Update the E-Sign Act of 2001 requiring electronic signature on all documents and accompanying storage within 5 years. Savings in paper, mailing costs, fax machines, paper storage (it is a MAJOR GREEN initiative). Efficiency is increased by seamless transfer of information at the speed of the network. Security is increased by electronic encryption of documents. Federal acceptance will jump start private sector for major productivity gains as private sector is hampered by nebulous federal direction and implementation. Feds currently have the electronic credentials on their agency badges but infrastructure has not been aligned. This needs firm and concise direction as well as agency expectations by EOP for traction.
