Eliminate the 5 year rule for FEHB. Many employees have health care through our spouses however, to get FEHB in our retirement we have to sign up for FEHB 5 years prior at a cost to the government of anywhere between $50K-$60K for the 5 years and that doesn't account for lost time in submitting paperwork. Not only will it save dollars but it will give many more people the opportunity to take retirement at an earlier time. Either eliminate the rule or provide a waiver for us that are saving the taxpayers dollars by using our spouses' health care.
