Hill Air Force Base should end its contract with Cintas for data disposal services and instead us our local energy recovery facility in order to dispose of sensitive information. This would save the faciity money and allow Hill to recover energy from the burned materials. It would also greatly decrease the distance travelled by our sensitive information once it leaves the facility. The energy recovery facility is immediately adjacent to Hill while Cintas must transport our documents to an entirely different county in order to dispose of them. This increases the time and distance our sensitive materials are at risk. Cintas had sensitive backup tapes, which were the property of the University of Utah, stolen from a truck several years ago. It we were to use the energy recovery facility, it would greatly minimize the risk of data interception.
