Grievance Process

I suggest that the government employee grievance programs and procedures be changed to always use disinterested investigators and judges. The current practice of handling grievances internally at the lowest possible level requires people with some possible culpability for a problem to incriminate themselves, or their close associates. To them, the grievance is the problem and the solution is to retaliate. One is free to grieve the retaliation, but the expected result is only more retaliation.

 

Retaliation against people who file grievances is typically done in a manner that reduces their productivity even more. The stress is not good for their health. The damaging effects on morale of all who witness it cause even more loss. The problems continue because the real causes are not addressed.
