The SSA has many millions of taxpayer dollars in overpayments (where it pays out money when it should NOT) . This overpayment arises from paying people SSI (SSI does not allow recipients to collect benefits while out of the country for more than 30 days) when they are living out of the country.
I suggest that : DHS and SSA get on the same page! …. When a person is deemed to be living or visiting another country for any length of time over one month; immigration or homeland security notify the SSA.
This simple notification will save money by alerting the SSA not to pay out benefits , saving taxpayers millions.
