Travel Location First Consideration List

Issue list of U.S. locations that should be considered first when government agencies are planning for a conference, meeting and/or training. The list should focus on U.S. locations hit the hardest by our current downturn in the economy (e.g., high unemployment rates, recent loss of industry/large businesses). When face-to-face federal government meetings must occur, consideration of hard-hit U.S. locations will most likely result in lower travel costs (as the per diem rates should be lower in such locations) and a boost to the local economy of a depressed U.S. location.

Agencies that choose a conference location that is not on the "first consideration list," should document the reasons why such a location was not selected.
