The U.S. Gov should travel through private services more often, allowing for rewards to employees who can find cheaper deals through the airlines directly. Purchasing tickets through websites allows for special deals, like Southwest’s one-way weekend getaway deals. These tickets sell between $60 to $120 dollars when you can only buy them through Sato travel (Gov Trip) for $130 to $160 government rate. Offer an incentive program to check out private air carriers first. If the federal employee can show they saved money on the tickets, even if they have to travel on a different day and route, give them a certain percentage (maybe 30 percent) in the savings from what it would of cost. This motivates federal employees to find cheaper deals and motivates the airlines to sell the federal government cheaper flights, saving millions in travel expenses.
