Health Care Savings for all government employees and Congress

Enroll all employees into the VA Health Care System, except for persons whose residence is geographically challenged to travel to a VA Medical Center. A portion of the projected health benefit costs could be appropriated to the VA to enhance services, where needed, for our veterans and our government employees. It would save taxpayer, and employees' families money, and send a message of confidence in the health care... more »

According to government statistics, the federal government employs over 2 million civil employees that earn an average of $74,403.00 annually or $35.77 hourly. The federal government could reduce spending (increase savings) by $858,480.000.00 (almost $1 billion) this year if it changed the number of annual leave hours earned per pay period from eight hours to six hours. This figure is based on ΒΌ of the employees being... more »

Per Diem

I suggest the MI&E rates (not lodging rates) be lowered to 60% of their current rate. It currently lowers to 60% on day 31 of most long-term details. This suggests that it does not need to be so high for days 1 - 30. This would save millions of dollars in sending employees to trainings, work groups, or details. This would also diminish the current public image of government employees eating expensive meals on the... more »

Efficient means of tracking populace

Secure chips should be implanted in the entire population of the United States and linked to a national database. This program would be an ever increasing database where all credentials of every person can be checked with the click of a button or by a quick scan of the chip. Federal organization, States, corporations, and any other organizational entity can apply for secure access to the database. The viewable data is... more »

Stop Taxing Gov't Employees

Stop taxing government employees. Government employees are paid through tax dollars so therefore it is money that is being taxed twice which isn't efficient. I'm not saying that government employees keep their current wages it could be re-calculated at a lower amount just not taxed which would save quite a bit on workforce hours allocation in the HR departments, Financial and the IRS.

Out of Memory space

Use a program that deletes old files for our O: and H: drives; rather than purchase more memory space. Any historical data can be archived into a Historical file that won't be deleted. This will be a huge savings and will allow more money to go to the Veterans programs.

Operate the Federal Health Insurance system like a contract.

Instead of having so many choices in the Federal Health Insurance program, issue a 5 year contract (Base year and 4 option years). Select the top 5 providers based on price and benefits (including Dental coverage), each year the providers would be rated by the federal employees which have selected that specific provider, any provider receiving an unacceptable rating would not have their option renewed and a new provider... more »

BLUETOOTH EAR PIECE FOR GOVERMENT BLACKBERRY'S SAVE MONEY AND LIVES

At the present time in the DoD you cannot have a blue tooth ear piece have access to a government Blackberry, yet almost every base has a policy the prevents talking on a phone (including a Blackberry) in a government vehicle without one. I know this is a security issue, but if you can Bluetooth a CAC reader to a Government Blackberry you can Bluetooth and ear piece without a higher security risk and lessen the safety... more »

All federal documents and shipping should be mandated to go USPS and it should go for free.

All federal documents and shipping should be mandated to go USPS and it should go for free. No federal agency should be required to pay another federal agency for services and we need to start with USPS, not charging other federal agencies for postage. Shuffling payments back and forth between federal agencies just adds to the cost of doing business. USPS is being subsidized from the federal budget anyway, why continue... more »

Public service: save taxpayer $ by easily doing more with less

A significant amount of money, in actual costs (purchase-price) and variable costs (personnel time, supplies), are wasted via sloppy procurements and how internal documents are stored/organized. And, the government needs to reward the personnel who create solutions that provide measurable/significant increases in productivity. PROCUREMENTS My personal experience is that acquisition planning is non-existent despite tens-of-millions... more »

CREATE AN INTERFACE BETWEEN HSPD (COMPUTER SIGN-IN) AND WEBTA Suggestion: Create an interface between WEBTA and HSPV that automatically tracks when a person a person is logged into their system and approved leave slips. How it would work: (1) When a person logs into their system at the beginning of the day the system would look to see if they arrived on time. If the person did not arrive on time the system would... more »

Computer Printers -Cartridge Expense/Government Wide

I suggest that 90% of printers for computers in government use do not need color printers. Printers should be developed for government use with black only cartridges. These cartridges could be made to have 3 times the amount of ink they hold now. The amount of money spent on ink cartridges for computer printers is astronomical.
