Many offices, agencies, and departments issue required smart phones for official use. While there is little doubt this improves communications and work processes by getting responses faster, there is an obvious downside. Primarily, there is an "always on" mentality when carrying a mobile workstation. Doing business with inter-office IT groups like security, telecommunications, operations, etc. should be similar to working with outside customers/vendors. Work tickets/contracts should be completed within a timely manner and communication should be performed to let the customer know the status. Reduce telecommunications cost by eliminating land lines for all employees who have Blackberry or other telecommunications devices. This could also help facilitate a more seemless implementation of telework in that employees would have only one phone number, not one number for the office and a separate one for telework days.
