My suggestion covers all federal agencies. All agencies need to increase the policing part of their agencies. We can continue to find faults and misuse and as long the interlopers are not brought to justice in some fashion, the news spreads how to work the system. More police more accountability.
Why are we wasting all this money enforcing laws in of the US that our elected officials do not want enforced? The elected and appointed officials of the US do not think it is necessary for the US Immigration laws to be enforced. By abolishing ICE, CBP and BP the government will save a large sum of money. The officers and agents could be reassigned, as needed, to various Ports of Entry (POE) to process the newly ...more »
The federal government has a centralized program to collect unpaid debts owed to the United States (and past-due child support) that is administered by the Treasury's Financial Management Service. In general, before money is paid from an account at the Treasury to a payee, the payment passes through FMS' Treasury Offset Program where a disbursing official compares the payment information with debtor information on file ...more »
I believe Executive, Legislative, and Judicial pay should be cut by 10%! I understand Congress and the Senate may be making the decisions that run our country, but their pay is wasteful - just like the bonuses that are paid to the bank CEO's and oil tycoons. Taking money from lower income government employees by not granting annual raises and forcing minimum wage is borderline theft! Our country is suffering financially ...more »
There is a concept called "Hotelling" where employees telework and save their company on office space by sharing the same desk. There are several areas within the Government where this concept could be utilized. The benefits are far reaching; fewer commuters on the highway, reduced office costs, increased quality of life, etc.
Stop sending paper documents to the Federal Records Center for retention. Instead, certify the validity of the electonic documents from which such hardcopy was printed, and electronically transmit these versions to a secure backup facility. This facilitates access/recovery, improves security, and saves millions in the handling and storage of paper.
The United States District Court utilizes an electronic case filing and document retrieval sysem. This system allows for electronic filing of all case related documents as well as docketing of hearings and case related events. Interested parties to the case can register to be notified of all activities related to that case. United States Attorney’s offices are linked to this PACER/ECF system and are recipients to this ...more »
Allow 30 years retirement without age penalty – promote within the agency – Hire outside source – This will help reduce unemployment and keep the social security system revolving.
Cut down building air conditioning in summer. Power companies inform us to do this at home, however, we freeze at the office and have to take a walk outside to warm up. There should be a lot of savings in turning down the air conditioning..
When federal parolees are released from prison and placed in jobs where they must travel, allow it. Dont tell them you must not work today I need you to go sit in a psychologists office, and lose work. Let them work, let them be responsible, help them rent decent housing like you or I hope to live in, not a mission for 30 days. Let them sign a contract for housing or a cell phone so they can be reached and visited when ...more »
I believe that the government should access the funds in the asset forfeiture fund to pay off the national debt. Also, to allocate other funds from the asset forfeiture fund for other uses besides law enforcement.
I know this sounds pretty pie-in-the-sky, but think of all the benefits if all government legal libraries were converted from paper to digital. Each attorney could be given a e-reader device, allowing them to have a totally portable, up-to-the-minute law library at their fingertips. It is also my understanding that these devices allow for tabbing, highlighting, and the addition of notes -- just like using a hard-copy ...more »
I suggest you...Conduct more Court of Appeals arguments by video conference, particularly in a substantial number of criminal and prisoner litigation cases involving government attorneys or private attorneys paid by the government. This would greatly reduce the funds spent on government travel. It also would increase productivty by reducing commute time for oral arguments. The Tenth Circuit has adopted a similar practice ...more »
Allow government employees to act as their own travel agents and allow them to book, and pay for services, like any other individual seeking services off of discounted websites or other commonly utilized travel websites without contracts, or rates, but rather paying fair market value for services, including applicable state and local taxes, but waving restrictions on places to stay and on onerous GSA rules on maximum ...more »
Change the hiring process and other personnel processes for for "Excepted Service" agencies. Too many underqualified workers for high paying positions. Will save money and increase efficiency and fairness.
