Incentive for Non-Smokers

Offer an incentive to non-smokers. Currently lots of time and money is being put towards smoking cessation programs. Also, personnel who smoke receive more frequent breaks, making smoking more appealing. It is a known fact that healthy personnel are more prudoctive, cost the government less in health care costs and prevent lost productivity due to sick days. Statistically, smoking a cigarette takes 7 minutes. Assuming ...more »

Salary Reduction

This is a very difficult time in our nation's history and I believe sacrifices must be made for the good of our country. I would like to suggest that the salaries of all Federal employees be cut by 10% and a 3 year freeze be implemented on cost of living raises. Many people in the private sector are out of work and this measure will save the Federal Government millions of dollars and show the American people that the ...more »

Get Rid of Skill Codes - they are obsolete

Skill codes placed against core documents/job descriptions are obsolete. Many of us have jobs that require many other skills that are not reflected on the core document against our position. I am a safety professional and the core document we work under only has a safety "sft" skill code associated with it but we have many areas of responsibility that are not accurately reflected against our job description/core doc. ...more »

Healthcare Options

I suggest that you provide more health care options instead of just employee and Family. I currently am a single parent raising 2 children. I don't think it's fair that I should have to pay "Family" fees for a spouse that does not exist.

Make Bicycle Commute Subsidy More Effective

Encourage fitness and decreased health costs by changing the Bicycle Commuter Act to allow payment of transit subsidy and the bike subsidy together so long as they don't exceed the transit subsidy. The either-or provision as the law is currently written prevents many employees from using it.

Require agencies to pay the new subsidy.

Government Empolyees Are Resource Savings

Develop a system where employees can identify their availability to unilateral in positions as like a spare tire in a car. Our greatest savings in government is the employee who has versatile capabilities but are not utilized. We will get more for less if we start within and allow every resource that is available through our employees, the opportunity to be identified. The right motivator, skilled trainer, community ...more »

higher raise with eudcation instead of time

One of the biggest cost to the government is employee' salary. I suggest the government promotes people beyond a GS 11 only if they have a master degree. Too many people get promoted up to a GS12, 13 or even 14 without getting a master. This will create at least smarter worker force, and eliminate those who just are define as "laid back"

Personality attribute alignment with government jobs as an element of selection criteria

Use personality inventory instruments to align people with jobs. Ensuring that we put people in a job in which they are, by nature, pre-disposed to be successful, as opposed to assuming everyone can do every job successfully, would save the Government and the American people millions of dollars each year in productivity.

Do not Post Fake Job Openings

Do not mislead job applicants by posting job openings to public which already have candidates in mind. This will save tremendously time and cost (time = money), and reduce stress and disappointment for job applicants. I will also save hiring managers' and HR's time for posting such jobs.

Mandate teleworking for immeasurable environmental improvements in the NCR

Mandate Telework-Don't let managers/supervisors be the decision-makers unless there's a "performance problem" or Security issues. Face it--Managers want their employees under their thumbs. There's a Congressional Mandate that all Federal Agencies implement telework to the maximum extent possible. Personally speaking, my portion of the "carbon footprint" could be eliminated if I didn't have a manager who openly admits ...more »
