Not all agencies have converted from a paper process to an online process. This change would save paper; make the entire process more efficient for everyone at every level of the process (employees, timekeepers, managers, HR, etc.) ; and while there would be an initial extra cost in the short term to do the conversion, it would save in terms of money, time, and waste in the long term. Better space management. Our agency of approximately 120 staff has 7 conference/hearing rooms as well as an extra office that accomodated 4 staff that is no longer used. Some of these rooms should be converted into breakrooms for staff that have tables, chairs, microwave, and refrigerator for staff to use. Instead of the 50% of staff having there own microwave/refrigerator which generates more energy.
Save the Trees. Automate the system that prints out personnel actions. Employees should be able to retreive and view their personnel actions on-line instead of waiting for the paper personnel action being sent through the agency's inter-office mail.
