Post office delivery days and No Boxes

Change Post office delivery days to Monday, Wedensday, and Friday only. UPS and FedEx and other commercial companies can handle boxed items. The Post office should not be allowed to deliver boxes.

Raise postal rates substantially on junk mail

All junk mail is marketing, most companies of which only use USPS because they are so cheap. Stop enabling junk mail companies, make them pay the true cost of delivering their garbage. Save millions of Americans the headache of sorting through garbage, prevent millions of tons of garbage from going to landfills by simply not being mailed in the first place, save millions of gallons of petrol by not transporting millions ...more »

Agencies to use USPS, not FedEx or UPS

All Fed. Agencies should be required to engage in beneficial contracts with USPS to ship packages, not "outside" companies like FedEx or UPS. Win-Win: USPS gets more business and agencies get more affordable shipping.

Contracted services

I believe that contractors should be made to be more accountable based on the certain authority they have been given. For instance the company First Script that was contracted to help cut cost for services for injured postal workers does not save money. They request reimbursement at the very top of the allowable for the services. They have not shown where they are actually helping to promote savings especially at a time ...more »

The federal government chargeing the federal government.

The federal government (US Postal Service) should not charge other federal government agencies postage fees. As an Inspector with DHS I routinely (daily) mail Letters of Investigation to individuals and regulated parties. The domestic postage cost of this one sheet of paper is just over $6.00. The math on this is astronomical, but let’s keep it simple just for the example. One LOI mailed out per day for only three hundred ...more »

Support for USPS

I often hear that the US Postal Service has fallen on hard times and looking for ways to cut cost. In support of the federal employees at USPS, why not consider requiring federal agencies make use of the USPS services, instead of using UPS, FedEx, DHL, etc. Not that the federal government is not in support of other companies, but why doesn’t the federal government make this move in an effort to directly support one of ...more »

The USPO is surviving on what? Delivering junk mail? They could cut out the expensive stamps they make, or they could stop making the cute sales stock that people do not buy. They can not keep up with Internet, e-mail, and other more modern ways of communication. They have to be as lean as they can be in order to survive. If they are only staying in business to deliver junk mail then it is time to go. This raising ...more »

Postage Machine/Customer Service

My suggestion is since there maybe several post office closures in the near future and the possibility of stopping delivery services on Saturdays, then I feel the Post Office sould restore the postal stamp machines to purchase stamps. All customers do have a credit or debit card and in most cases, customer will only want to purchase one or two stamps. This wil eliminate a customer from having to stand in line for a ...more »

One Postal Rate For Letters - no more bulk rates.

I believe ALL mail should be stamped at the same cost. In other words have bulk mail (credit card advertisements, etc) pay the same first class rate as everyone else. Reduction of bulk/commercial mail could be expected (at least initally). The reduction of need for handling that "class" of mail in the short term would reduce burden on the system and allow for all mail to pay its full way.
