Help disadvantaged students meet their full potential through the use of government surplus equipment

Help disadvantaged students meet their full potential through the use of government surplus equipment: Partner with the Race to the Top Program to provide students with government computers that have been surplused. Government offices regularly update and replace their computers. Rather than storing or selling these computers, a clearing house could be set up to funnel them into the hands of high school students who ...more »

Training Agency

Stop wasting so much money on training through external sources. I propose that the Government stand up a new organization that is solely responsible for administering training classes to Federal Employees. I work in the technology field and one week classes are often $2,500 per student through an outside company. All that training company does is provide an instructor, who often does this as a side job, for five days. ...more »

Government Green Box

The Government Green Box is a reusable, environmentally friendly Tupperware. Government employees could purchase this Green Box at any government cafeteria and then reuse it every time they purchase food from the cafeteria. The person could receive 5 cents off their food purchase by bringing his/her own container. If a container is needed then the customer would be charged 5 cents. This idea not only cuts down on waste ...more »

Electronic Books

All the books shoud be electronic and not paperback. kids would not have back injuries. they would not forget their books and could have access to the material all the time. the school would not have to purchase them and keep track of them and then destroy them when they are done with them.

Buses

Get rid of all busing. Too many parents drop the kids off anyway or the kids drive themselves. I think if they had to walk they could eliminate gym and the buses

Fix the schools problem...don't just buy them new buildings and gadgets.

Stop blind education spending. I volunteer at several schools in several different cities...I will tell you that some of the nicest, newest buildings with all the fancy gizmo's are the worst schools and some of the old run down 1940's brick school houses with no-frills can be some of the best. It's the employees that make the school a success not the fancy building and technology. put the money into salaries and upper ...more »

Agency Corps

To promote higher education, while providing the government with a more robust workforce to accomplish tasks that stretch agencies thin, I suggest expanding student volunteer programs within the government. In today's tough economy, students are entering a poor job market, and an expansive volunteer program would allow them to gain experience while working for college credit. They would also benefit the government, ...more »

MANDATORY SCHOOL UNIFORMS FOR ALL PUBLIC SCHOOLS IN THE U.S.A. (ELEMENTARY, PRIMARY, H.S.)

We all need to get in the habit of playing our part environmentally by reducing, reusing and recycling our waste, and if it has financial benefits then it is an even bigger bonus. If school uniforms were mandatory in every state, parents should be and would be encoraged to reuse and recycle unifroms and school sports kits because is GREEN AND SAVES MONEY! Also, school uniforms are a possitive impact on the learning enviroment. ...more »

Make students who use federal assisted programs such as FASFA accountable for the money used for school.

Problem: I personally know of the stories where students enroll to receive these sorts of funds free of any financial obligation and then drop the courses as soon as they get the money. The only thing done to correct the issue was the following semester the student was placed on probation, but yet still continuing to receive funding. Solution: I believe if were to hold applicable students accountable to pass these ...more »
