Announce field office waiting times on Twitter. When customers have business with SSA but don't want to wait for sometimes hours, to be seen, they could sign up to follow the local field office's Twitter account. The Visitor Intake Process (VIP) system could be hooked up with the Twitter account to regularly send out Tweets to followers. This would result in field office traffic even out better, and serve the needs... more »

I suggest that management be made to utilize employees in house and in their own component before venturing out and brining people in from other regions and across the country when they already have employees in the office that can do the work. They have employees even asking to be moved to another center, team, etcc in the same office to do different work and it is not allowed. Meanwhile managment will bring someone... more »
In view of the Health Care Reform Act, I am suggesting that SSA get authorization from SSA clients to release their e-medical record to Health and Human Service and other appropriate federal agenciies. As you know, SSA take a lots of disability applications for clients filing for disability benefits and in the process get a lots of medical records and information. This medical information could be use for the Health Reform... more »
The SSA has many millions of taxpayer dollars in overpayments (where it pays out money when it should NOT) . This overpayment arises from paying people SSI (SSI does not allow recipients to collect benefits while out of the country for more than 30 days) when they are living out of the country. I suggest that : DHS and SSA get on the same page! …. When a person is deemed to be living or visiting another country for... more »
SSA-ODAR burns CDs for medical experts and vocational experts. Each person require specific information in order to testify. They need to make up CD selections for each component that burns only what is needed for that particular party, to help protect the rights of the claimant and insure that there is no PII violation.
Eliminate the 5 month waiting period for Social Security Disability. People who are truly disabled need help immediately. To offset the increased cost of no waiting period, you could eliminate all retroactivity. People who wait a year or longer before they file for benefits were getting by somehow. Also, eliminate retroactivity for retirement claims.
I suggest that the Social Security e-Path system prompt the 1-800# agents to ask all questions that will be required when inputting changes in MSSICS. Currently, the 1-800# agents will only get part of the information needed to make the change. When this is referred to the local office, another representative has to recontact the claimant to get the rest of the information for their change. This is very time consuming... more »
Suggest putting automatic dispensers, automatic water faucet systems, and toilets that will flush without using your hands. In our building, you have flush the toilet with our hands, touch the dispenser for soap; you turn on the water to wash your hands, leaving germs; you wash your hands, the turn off the faucet (that has germs) and then dry your hands. Suggest that the government invest in keeping their employee... more »
WE NEED TO IMPROVE OUR DATA QUALITY OR IT"S GOING TO COST US IN THE NEAR FUTURE, AS A NEW EMPLOYEE COMING FROM A BACKGROUND THAT EMPHASIZES DATA QUALITY, DATA TAXONOMY AND ENTERPRISE CENTERED ARCHITECTURE, I AM SHOCKED AT WHAT I SEE HERE AT SSA AS FAR AS DATA STRUCTURE GOES Data is an important enterprise asset, so its quality is critical. Disparate redundant data is one of the primary contributing factors to poor data... more »
Currently, as a Teleservice Representative for the Social Security Administration, I have access to a large supply of paper fact sheets and publications that are stored in our supply room. I even have a somewhat dust-covered supply on my desk and in my file cabinets. I think we can save shipping costs and the paper used to produce these SSA publications and fact sheets if we focus on using the Public Information... more »
Create a national ID system for Social Security, Passports, and other identity management requirements for national, state, and local governments. This will reduce the total cost of ownership for ID cards and enable the Government to provide online services unlike any other time in America history.
It is time to get rid of some of the fraud. Too many parents are having their kids label ADD/ADHD/BiPolar so they can collect. Too many adults are collecting for this too. Not to mention my person favorite - anxiety disorder. Time to stop this fraud as too many of these people collecting under these reasons are able to lead a normal life but for working or working under the table. we could save millions. my city is a... more »
I suggest the government places social security funds in the stock market, bonds, mutual funds, and ETFs. History shows that money investing in the market not only drives the US economy, but higher annual returns.
I suggest you... There are cases in which an individual applies for a social security number at entry in the U.S. This should be expanded to full enumeration at entry because the same documents Homeland Security is looking at are the ones Social Security is requesting. It would save a lot of man hours at Social Security as well as at Homeland Security because if they have not updated their records and the individual... more »
Although we have raised the retirement ages and are aware that people are able to live longer and function better with new medical treatments and medications, we have not yet adjusted the age limits considered in the vocational evaluation portion of the disability process. We currently consider anyone under age 50 to be a "younger individual," someone 50-55 as "closely approaching advanced age", and someone 55 and over... more »
