GSA Fleet Sharing and Accountability Could Save $6Billion and Environment

GSA has about 212,000 vehicles in its fleet divided among 75 federal agencies. Most of these vehicles are assigned to individuals ie. one vehicle one man. Last year alone, GSA spent $287 Million to buy 17, 205 new vehicles to its fleet bringing the new number to about 220, 205 vehicles. Each vehicle than requires insurance, gas, toll expenses, parking fees in some instances, violations etc etc. Lest not forget most of ...more »

UNDOCUMENTED IMMIGRATION SOLUTION: SELF FUNDED DETERRENT PREVENTING THE HIRING OF UNDOCUMENTED WORKERS

I suggest a new type of proactive solution in the form of an enforcement system to deter the hiring of undocumented workers (illegal aliens, deportable/inadmissible aliens) through self funded economic incentives (monetary rewards) generated by fines. It will encourage the public to report violators and discourage employers from hiring undocumented workers. A percentage of the fines levied on employers of undocumented ...more »

Passports and Green Cards (Go electronic w/these security updates)

I realize the “make a suggestion” contest phase is over; but this idea is AMAZING. I am suggesting that in every passport issued by the United States, and our allies, be equipped with a locator (similar to the tracker embedded in pets by the human society) woven into the electronic verification information (like the CAC card chip); that will contain all of the individuals pertinent information to include the picture ...more »

Replace Cash

Printing money is expensive. We could save money with an automated system. I propose we show our patriotism by getting an American flag tattooed onto our hand – or some patriotic Americans can have it on their forehead. The flag will be specially coded with a small bar code under it that is unique for every citizen. A database will keep track of each person’s accounts. To enforce this system, cash will become void ...more »

Default Typeset

Change all default typeset to Century Gothic, which saves 30% more ink than Arial. This would result in millions of dollars in savings for the government, with a very simple change.

FUND WATERSENSE! You know the VALUE OF CLEAN WATER, but do you really know its TRUE COST?

Similar to Energy Star, WaterSense is a voluntary partnership program developed by EPA that seeks to promote water efficiency and conservation through increasing the market for water-efficient products with demonstrated exceptional performance, while also encouraging innovative marketing low water-use practices. Also like Energy Star, WaterSense allows products that are tested and proven to meet EPA specifications to ...more »

Reduce or Eliminate Executive Motor Pools!

Executive motor pools should be dramatically reduced or eliminated. Senior officials should use public transportation wherever possible, not government vehicles. The cost savings include less need for these: parking spaces, vehicle purchase, vehicle maintenance, personal drivers, and motor pool management. If public transportation is not available, they should conduct their business electronically, carpool, or use ...more »

Government-wide IT Umbrella Purchase Program

The government should setup a standard way of purchasing computers and electronic data systems. The amount of money wasted by not establishing site licenses for common software, or not purchasing off an agency specific contract is tremendous. Every agency sub-component seems to operate a different way and there is no common theme to the IT equipment used within government. This is also true of warranties. There is no ...more »

Air Traffic Control

There are large expenses in maintaining air traffic control towers - hvac, facilities, engine generators, etc. Also, air traffic controllers are paid high salaries. NATCA would like you to think they are suffering and poor, but the public is not that ignorant. With today's high speed technology and redundancy capabilities, it is possible to simply have a few poles with video cameras placed around the airport, instead ...more »

Quicker Death Penalty

If a criminal is sentenced to death by way of jury and beyond any reasonable doubt, I suggest they put the criminal to death within one week.

This will seriously cut costs in feeding and housing the enemy to freedom. It will also put the criminal out of their misery much sooner than have them sitting in prison for years.
