Information Assurance workforce

Hundreds of hours are required to become certified as an Information Assurance Security Officer (IASO) in Dept. of Army organizations- and all organizations are required to have at least two IASOs on orders at all times. This includes hundreds, if not thousands, of very small military units and installation offices, managing IA compliance for as few as 5-15 systems and users. Hundreds of man-hours are invested in bringing ...more »

UNDOCUMENTED IMMIGRATION SOLUTION: SELF FUNDED DETERRENT PREVENTING THE HIRING OF UNDOCUMENTED WORKERS

I suggest a new type of proactive solution in the form of an enforcement system to deter the hiring of undocumented workers (illegal aliens, deportable/inadmissible aliens) through self funded economic incentives (monetary rewards) generated by fines. It will encourage the public to report violators and discourage employers from hiring undocumented workers. A percentage of the fines levied on employers of undocumented ...more »

Passports and Green Cards (Go electronic w/these security updates)

I realize the “make a suggestion” contest phase is over; but this idea is AMAZING. I am suggesting that in every passport issued by the United States, and our allies, be equipped with a locator (similar to the tracker embedded in pets by the human society) woven into the electronic verification information (like the CAC card chip); that will contain all of the individuals pertinent information to include the picture ...more »

Government-wide Reuse and Disposal Initiative

I propose that a Government-wide Reuse and Disposal program be established. This would allow for quantifiable cost savings in procurement and disposal across the entire government. It would also result in a measurable reduced impact on the environment. Too often equipment that is disposed of within one agency is still useful to another. A computer that was used for high speed data analysis 3 years ago is still more than ...more »

Default Typeset

Change all default typeset to Century Gothic, which saves 30% more ink than Arial. This would result in millions of dollars in savings for the government, with a very simple change.

Do not Post Fake Job Openings

Do not mislead job applicants by posting job openings to public which already have candidates in mind. This will save tremendously time and cost (time = money), and reduce stress and disappointment for job applicants. I will also save hiring managers' and HR's time for posting such jobs.

Incentivize $$ Saving Ideas!

Incentivize Cost Savings! Create a program where the creator of an idea that is adopted is given a "commission" for their idea! Ex. If an idea will award 10% of one-year's worth of savings to the creator then I guarantee there will be a lot more ideas coming forward!

Federal Government Information Technology Best Practices Website

I have observed a need for a single, federal government best practices website for federal Information Techonology (IT) projects. The IT best practices website would include best practices related to IT related project management, requirements gathering, risks assessment, IT reference materials, systems testing information, systems training, systems security, and other established IT related best practices. By having ...more »

Make Electronic Filing Work to save money and paper

this is a small idea, but it would save money and paper.... we have switched to electronic filing, but there are two ways in which we have not caught up. (1) we continue to be provided with sets of 3 file labels which are printed out before the case is assigned. One label is on the litigation folder, the other two are placed inside the folder for labelling the record on appeal, despite the fact that we no longer need ...more »
