Each vehicle than requires insurance, gas, toll expenses, parking fees in some instances, violations etc etc. Lest not forget most of ...more »

UNDOCUMENTED IMMIGRATION SOLUTION: SELF FUNDED DETERRENT PREVENTING THE HIRING OF UNDOCUMENTED WORKERS

I suggest a new type of proactive solution in the form of an enforcement system to deter the hiring of undocumented workers (illegal aliens, deportable/inadmissible aliens) through self funded economic incentives (monetary rewards) generated by fines. It will encourage the public to report violators and discourage employers from hiring undocumented workers. A percentage of the fines levied on employers of undocumented ...more »

Electronic Time and Travel

As a Department of the Army Intern, I have submitted all of my travel orders and vouchers electronically through the Defense Travel System. Previous to my work for the Federal Government when I worked in the private sector, I have always submitted my timesheets electronically. Now that I am going to be promoted out of the Intern program I will have to start filling out all of my timesheets and travel worksheets with pen ...more »

Make Electronic Filing Work to save money and paper

this is a small idea, but it would save money and paper.... we have switched to electronic filing, but there are two ways in which we have not caught up. (1) we continue to be provided with sets of 3 file labels which are printed out before the case is assigned. One label is on the litigation folder, the other two are placed inside the folder for labelling the record on appeal, despite the fact that we no longer need ...more »

Executive Office of the President

Instead of using proprietary operating systems Like Microsoft consider going to an Open Database Standard like Ubuntu.

Why continue to pay for proprietary operating systems like Microsoft when open database standard products like Ubuntu are available for free. The government pays millions every year for Microsoft enterprise licenses, for not only its operating system (Windows) but for its Office suite browser etc. All of these products are available in the open database standers arena and all are configured to work with Ubuntu. On ...more »

Work Camps

Unemployment in this country is at emergency levels. Welfare recipients need not just be given food, clothing and housing, but they need to learn some valuable life skills. Since this is an emergency, I suggest that FEMA set up camps (similar to those set up for hurricanes and natural disasters) that are designed to put the welfare recipients to work. Anyone who wants to receive free government benefits is welcome ...more »

The next problem is it bases all of its air fares on the GSA City Pares program. You can almost always go to commercial sites like Expedia or Orbitz and find lower fares, the GAS City Pairs program is costly and just need to done away with completely, Suggestion ...more »

Electronic Letters to Beneficiaries

The Social Security Administration mails out millions of letters to beneficiaries each year. I suggest that the Social Security Administration offer beneficiaries the option to receive their letters electronically via e-mail or be able to receive a notification via email/text message and then be able to check their letters online. The use of e-mail and electronic media is very prevalent today and will continue to grow ...more »

Converting Paper Tax Returns to Electronic Format

For individuals that use tax software to prepare their income tax return, but insist on printing it and filing a paper tax return, we should work with tax software companies on a way to print bar codes (either on one page or, preferably, at the bottom of each page) of the tax return that can be scanned at the IRS office and easily converted to an electronic format. This will help eliminate transcription errors at the ...more »

Digital Bulletin Boards- FOR INMATES

Inmates should have access to memos, notes, updates, unit rules, menus, TV schedules, etc. on a digital bulletin board that can be updated at any time by staff using an online program. This could even include daily call outs! There is so much unnecessary waste by posting paper buttetin messages several times a week! Messages could be translated and into any language needed so that there is no excuse for them not understanding ...more »
