Why is there not solar on every federal building's roof? The solar could offer enough power to run 'thin client' computers and offer a large savings for most federal buildings.
By covering all Federal Parking lots with Shade structures which have solar panels on top it serves two energy conservation issues - solar power and gasoline. A lot of car air conditioners are run just to cool the car down after sitting in the unshaded parking lot all day. Our buildings here at USPTO are always very cold. The AC is on overkill. Change the set point up 3 degrees and enjoy the extra cash! Set a standard wherein employees can bring in small fans to move the air and with the added windchill it will be cooler.
Encourage individuals to serve as power "Generation Partners" and to sell clean power back to TVA's grid. Promote this program through TVA's local distribution affiliates.
