Employee Health Insurance Premiums (should there be special groups of federal employees?)

Make all federal employees equal! Does it frustrate you each year during the health plan open season, when you see that postal employees pay MUCH less health insurance premiums than the rest of us(obviously no, if you are a USPS employee)? Postal workers (and any other special groups?) should pay what the rest of us schmucks pay. Or else give us the same rate...but that is not saving the government money. The USPS ...more »

HEALTH CARE PLAN SAVINGS AND INCENTIVES

I suggest a type of proactive incentivised system for health care that would operate in conjunction with the recently passed Health Care and Education Reconciliation Act of 2010 (Pub.L. 111-152). The Humana/Medicare Advantage Program-No Advantage

I suggest that you get rid of the Humana/Medicare Advantage conflict-of-interest program, and go back to what people spent their working lives acquiring---a bona fide medicare program and the supplemental insurance program they signed up for. The doctors are not getting paid under this program, the patients are paying 300-400% what they were paying under the old program for less care, and some "doctor" in Humana is making ...more »

Switch from full fare airline tickets to non-refundable tickets

Why is the government still paying for full-fare, fully-refundable tickets for official travel? I think that we could make huge savings if we were allowed to buy discounted internet fares. Even with last minute changes or cancellations (and the associated fees), it would still be a savings to switch from the current system. Below is an example for a recent trip going from Washington, DC to Geneva, Switzerland, to Bahia, ...more »

Save billions of taxpayers money

Right now, every American citizen pays their state and federal taxes which goes directly toward funding the Medicaid program - which is widely abused. There are also individuals who go to their local hospital without any insurance and no means to pay for their visit. Their medical bills also ends up in the taxpayer's hands. I suggest that the hospitals be reformed to reorganize how patients are handled. Right now, whoever ...more »

Charge smokers and obese people more for health insurance.

Your individual health insurance premium that is deducted from your paycheck every two weeks depends on the health of your fellow coworkers. If you have coworkers who do not take care of their health well, you end up paying more for your own health insurance. We should provide a financial incentive for people to take better care of themselves and lower healthcare costs for all of their coworkers in the process.

Let's Move, Federal Government!!

The Federal Government is too fat, pays too much for health care, and has some of the most decrepit gyms in the city. Let's encourage Federal workers to be less obese, not just by serving better food in the cafeteria, but also by installing better, more attractive workout spaces in Federal buildings. Give incentives to employees to use the gym, make it free, and have each employee create an account, swiping in and out ...more »
