Government-wide IT Umbrella Purchase Program

The government should setup a standard way of purchasing computers and electronic data systems. The amount of money wasted by not establishing site licenses for common software, or not purchasing off an agency specific contract is tremendous. Every agency sub-component seems to operate a different way and there is no common theme to the IT equipment used within government. This is also true of warranties. There is no ...more »

Air Traffic Control

There are large expenses in maintaining air traffic control towers - hvac, facilities, engine generators, etc. Also, air traffic controllers are paid high salaries. NATCA would like you to think they are suffering and poor, but the public is not that ignorant. With today's high speed technology and redundancy capabilities, it is possible to simply have a few poles with video cameras placed around the airport, instead ...more »

GET THE ACTUAL VOTES AND TALLY THE TOTAL OF ALL LIKE IDEAS.

Combine all the similar topics into one to tally actually votes. Who has the time to read through 16k plus ideas? That sounds like a waste of Government time and money. For instance there are nearly 10,000 telework, tele-commute, telecommute, work from home, etc. these should all be tallied and then count the total votes. Do I have to take the time to read through all of these? The point was made with one; although ...more »

Get rid of old buildings that are not being used and not historical.

Eliminate buildings that are not needed and/or review whether they qualify as historical buildings. There is a fish hatchery that is 50 years old and falling apart. It is not used but since it sits on land aquired by my park, it qualifies for historically. It should have just been torn down and naturally revegetated. Yet, there are people trying to obtain hundreds of thousands of dollars just for upkeep on the closed ...more »

Small changes make a Huge difference....

Each year each Federal organization implement a similiar process locally. Employees submitt ideas on a "SAVE" award that are applicable to their own department or office. I think if every organization implemented just one idea within their own office then the cost savings will be huge. People will feel like their ideas are being heard and are welcomed. Morale could improve and teamwork could be more embraced. Ideas ...more »
