Arbitration needs to comply with programmatic guidance...

When awarding Arbitration decisions ensure the arbitration Arbitors use the programmatic guidance and regulations for that Agency that is awarding the grants, such as FEMA when making determinations. Otherwise, they are not following the letter or intent of the law and when the OIG auditor's prepare their audit the grantee's or sub-grantees will be out of compliance with DHS guidelines and will have to pay funding back. ...more »

Hire additional OIG investigators to fight fraud

I suggest you add additional employees to Office of the Inspector General to handle fraud cases. I work at Social Security. We are continually frustrated when we discover obvious cases of fraud such as identity theft or fraudulent use of Social Security beneftis. I suggest the Social Security Administration expand the Agency’s number of Cooperative Disability Investigations (CDI) units, as well as the number of employees (or contractors) dedicated to investigating fraudulent allegations. There are a substantial number of substantive fraud allegations that are referred to OIG and CDI but not investigated. To help seniors better understand what their health care providers are billing/charging the Medicare program, beneficiaries' Medicare Summary Notices should include plain language about services billed to Medicare by inpatient and outpatient providers.
