Allow access to TRICARE SELECT for FEHB eligibles

Allow FEHB eligible employees and family members in the Reserves access to TRICARE SELECT. This will save FEHB government funded dollars by the federal government and allow Reservists access to lower cost TRICARE SELECT health insurance. This will lower costs for both the Federal Government/OPM and the member.

Incentivize Travelers to Save on TDY Lodging Costs

ISSUE Currently OPM per diem rates for travel (TDY) are set so that the lodging rate is a 'use it or lose it' system whereby money not spent on lodging is returned to the government. This fosters an environment where most government travelers don't spend any time looking for the best rate. Consolidate Security Clearances

Consolidate Security Clearances into one standard verses having DHS, DOD, CIA, DEA, NSA, USCG, ICE, ATF, etc… each having their own. Can you imagine the man hours saved and better inter-agency interaction when all organizations adhere to one standard?

Redefine Liberal Leave Policy to allow Telework

When OPM declares "Liberal Leave Policy" due to inclement weather or other events/emergencies, Federal employees are expected to use annual leave (without prior supervisory approval) or come in to work. There have been some wonderful ideas captured in the SAVE Award process. Also, many ideas are being repeated several times. the thirty-six hour four day work week for Federal employees.

I suggest that the Federal Government lead the way to the four day work week. The work week would consist of 4 days 9 hours for a total of 36 hours. This 10% reduction in hours would be paid for by foregoing all step increases and COLA increases for two years.Thereby helping to control Federal spending. There exists an opportunity to save millions of dollars or more within the federal government through a minor adjustment to their periodic background investigations. Presently, my agency completes background investigations every five years in addition to the initial investigation. Many government office buildings are kept too cold in the summer, and too hot in the winter. It is not uncommon to see employees in sweaters in federal offices in the summer. Recommend that the multiple DHS Personnel Security offices be consolidated into one office to improve the speed and efficiency of making suitability determinations and granting clearances.
