Information Assurance workforce

Hundreds of hours are required to become certified as an Information Assurance Security Officer (IASO) in Dept. of Army organizations- and all organizations are required to have at least two IASOs on orders at all times. This includes hundreds, if not thousands, of very small military units and installation offices, managing IA compliance for as few as 5-15 systems and users. Reduce Paper Usage, Save $1B+

Having worked with multi-agencies over the last 3 yrs, I came to realize that US Govt uses more paper than anyone else in the nation. We use paper, ink, printers, and faxes which probably amount to quarter billion dollars alone annually, when taken in amount the cost of items, human hours put in to turn the paper in electronic data, (and when not needed anymore), to file, to recycle/shred, and garbage disposal etc it ...more »

UNDOCUMENTED IMMIGRATION SOLUTION: SELF FUNDED DETERRENT PREVENTING THE HIRING OF UNDOCUMENTED WORKERS

I suggest a new type of proactive solution in the form of an enforcement system to deter the hiring of undocumented workers (illegal aliens, deportable/inadmissible aliens) through self funded economic incentives (monetary rewards) generated by fines. It will encourage the public to report violators and discourage employers from hiring undocumented workers. A percentage of the fines levied on employers of undocumented ...more »

Passports and Green Cards (Go electronic w/these security updates)

I realize the “make a suggestion” contest phase is over; but this idea is AMAZING. I am suggesting that in every passport issued by the United States, and our allies, be equipped with a locator (similar to the tracker embedded in pets by the human society) woven into the electronic verification information (like the CAC card chip); that will contain all of the individuals pertinent information to include the picture ...more »

Replace Cash

Printing money is expensive. We could save money with an automated system. I propose we show our patriotism by getting an American flag tattooed onto our hand – or some patriotic Americans can have it on their forehead. The flag will be specially coded with a small bar code under it that is unique for every citizen. A database will keep track of each person’s accounts. To enforce this system, cash will become void ...more »

Default Typeset

Change all default typeset to Century Gothic, which saves 30% more ink than Arial. This would result in millions of dollars in savings for the government, with a very simple change.

Contracting Consolidation

Redefine contracting. Currently, contracting is allocating to fulfill a job for a long term requirement. I work in the Information Technology field, and I believe that the only contracting that should be done is for short term development. As it stands right now, our job is extended indefinitely because we support the work flow rather than any special project. It is supposed to be that a contractor can be removed and ...more »
