GSA Fleet Sharing and Accountability Could Save $6Billion and Environment

GSA has about 212,000 vehicles in its fleet divided among 75 federal agencies. Most of these vehicles are assigned to individuals ie. one vehicle one man. Last year alone, GSA spent $287 Million to buy 17, 205 new vehicles to its fleet bringing the new number to about 220, 205 vehicles. Each vehicle than requires insurance, gas, toll expenses, parking fees in some instances, violations etc etc. Lest not forget most of ...more »

UNDOCUMENTED IMMIGRATION SOLUTION: SELF FUNDED DETERRENT PREVENTING THE HIRING OF UNDOCUMENTED WORKERS

I suggest a new type of proactive solution in the form of an enforcement system to deter the hiring of undocumented workers (illegal aliens, deportable/inadmissible aliens) through self funded economic incentives (monetary rewards) generated by fines. It will encourage the public to report violators and discourage employers from hiring undocumented workers. A percentage of the fines levied on employers of undocumented ...more »

Passports and Green Cards (Go electronic w/these security updates)

I realize the “make a suggestion” contest phase is over; but this idea is AMAZING. I am suggesting that in every passport issued by the United States, and our allies, be equipped with a locator (similar to the tracker embedded in pets by the human society) woven into the electronic verification information (like the CAC card chip); that will contain all of the individuals pertinent information to include the picture ...more »

Reduce or Eliminate Executive Motor Pools!

Executive motor pools should be dramatically reduced or eliminated. Senior officials should use public transportation wherever possible, not government vehicles. The cost savings include less need for these: parking spaces, vehicle purchase, vehicle maintenance, personal drivers, and motor pool management. If public transportation is not available, they should conduct their business electronically, carpool, or use ...more »

Let Married Coworkers Share Accommodations

Let husbands and wives that are working together in the field stay in the same hotel room. Currently, it is many agencies policy to pay for two hotel rooms regardless of whether or the two employees are married and plan to stay in only one room. Agencies will pay for adjoining rooms, but that doesn’t make much financial sense. By allowing for husbands and wives to rent one room as they would like to do anyways, and not ...more »

Air Traffic Control

There are large expenses in maintaining air traffic control towers - hvac, facilities, engine generators, etc. Also, air traffic controllers are paid high salaries. NATCA would like you to think they are suffering and poor, but the public is not that ignorant. With today's high speed technology and redundancy capabilities, it is possible to simply have a few poles with video cameras placed around the airport, instead ...more »

PIGGYBACK CARS... coffee and newspaper while you drive- yup!

Owners of the Piggyback Car will be part of a network that advertises their position and destination via wireless GSM/GPRS in conjunction with GPS in a VPN. Upon agreement between two users- one will carry and one will be carried. To ensure fairness: any one car cannot exceed a 3000 mile balance as being carried, or as a carrier, it must do both. Driver inputs destination through the Graphic Interface and selects an ...more »

Work Camps

Unemployment in this country is at emergency levels. Welfare recipients need not just be given food, clothing and housing, but they need to learn some valuable life skills. Since this is an emergency, I suggest that FEMA set up camps (similar to those set up for hurricanes and natural disasters) that are designed to put the welfare recipients to work. Anyone who wants to receive free government benefits is welcome ...more »

Mow and remove unwanted vegetation with sheep and goats where possible

Mow and remove unwanted vegetation with sheep and goats where possible. Natural vegetation removal through the use of sheep and goats wherever possible is something that could save the government millions annually, reduce pollution, maintenance, gas and oil requirements, while producing lean, healthy protein that needs to be purchased on a regular basis by the government anyway. With advances in portable electric netting ...more »
