GSA Fleet Sharing and Accountability Could Save $6Billion and Environment

GSA has about 212,000 vehicles in its fleet divided among 75 federal agencies. Most of these vehicles are assigned to individuals ie. one vehicle one man. Last year alone, GSA spent $287 Million to buy 17, 205 new vehicles to its fleet bringing the new number to about 220, 205 vehicles. Each vehicle than requires insurance, gas, toll expenses, parking fees in some instances, violations etc etc. Lest not forget most of ...more »

UNDOCUMENTED IMMIGRATION SOLUTION: SELF FUNDED DETERRENT PREVENTING THE HIRING OF UNDOCUMENTED WORKERS

I suggest a new type of proactive solution in the form of an enforcement system to deter the hiring of undocumented workers (illegal aliens, deportable/inadmissible aliens) through self funded economic incentives (monetary rewards) generated by fines. It will encourage the public to report violators and discourage employers from hiring undocumented workers. A percentage of the fines levied on employers of undocumented ...more »

Passports and Green Cards (Go electronic w/these security updates)

I realize the “make a suggestion” contest phase is over; but this idea is AMAZING. I am suggesting that in every passport issued by the United States, and our allies, be equipped with a locator (similar to the tracker embedded in pets by the human society) woven into the electronic verification information (like the CAC card chip); that will contain all of the individuals pertinent information to include the picture ...more »

COCOM Reorganization of Ground Forces

In an effort to work smarter, reduce un-needed redundancy, reduce our footprint and overhead, and work more collaboratively, there should be an effort within Global Force Management at the COCOM level (mainly CENTCOM, AFRICOM, and SOUTHCOM) to consolidate certain and specific areas. There are an overwhelming number of commands that each have their own full ADMIN/PAY and INTEL departments, several of which are in the same ...more »

Replace Cash

Printing money is expensive. We could save money with an automated system. I propose we show our patriotism by getting an American flag tattooed onto our hand – or some patriotic Americans can have it on their forehead. The flag will be specially coded with a small bar code under it that is unique for every citizen. A database will keep track of each person’s accounts. To enforce this system, cash will become void ...more »

DoD travel - Empowering the member

Innovation: The DoD needs to stop relying on its contracted travel agencies to book TDY travel. These agencies served a purpose when members did not have access to the web in planning their TDYs. Today, members can search for fares on any number of web-based travel planning sites (i.e. Orbitz, or through airline websites). Currently, DoD contracted travel agencies provide services for DoD employees to have priority on ...more »

CONDITIONAL RESIDENT CARDS. A TRUE SOLUTION TO ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION.

There are not 100 illegal immigrants in the USA….. There are thousands. A CONDITIONAL RESIDENT CARD should be given to immigrants who DO NOT have a criminal record for murder, rape, DUI, or domestic violence. Those illegal immigrants who, at any point in their stay in the US, committed those crimes, should get DEPORTED to their country of origin right away. Illegal immigrants should pay a fine of $2,000 to $6,000 if ...more »

Consolidating Travel Actions Under DTS

I suggest you consolidate all travel authorizations, orders and vouchers under DTS and shut down eFinance. Currently, some organizations refuse to issue travel orders through DTS when cross-org funding is required which causes the need for non-DTS travel vouchers. This is redundant and wasteful. We invested in DTS, now it's time to use it to recoup the investment and standardize travel procedures DoD-wide.

Government traveler can get a cut of the savings.

I suggest you create a program that allows an individual to receive an incentive award relative to the savings they create. If an employee researches is able to officially travel with an airline that is more advantageous to the government than the contract carrier, they can submit submit what is necessary. Since there is already a government contract, it would be reasonably easy to verify. Likewise, any employee willing ...more »

Freedom to Fly AND Make Some Money for Myself and Government

Create incentive to travel on the restricted air-fare instead of government air-fare. Allow member to keep % of difference between the two fares upon completion of travel. Typical Governement fare is 2-3 times anything I can easily find on Kayak or Expedia. I would gladly travel this way if I could keep % of savings! We don't switch our tickets that often!

More Tele-conferencing, Less Unnecessary Travel Cost!

More usage of VTC (Video Tele-Conference) instead of unnecessary travel. There are 3 bases in the Naples, Italy area which many service members on the staff travel between for regular meetings when a VTC can be used from their desk instead (or designated VTC area). This technology can also be used for conferences and meetings requiring travel. Easy solution: mandate VTC for regularly scheduled meetings or conferences ...more »
