Reduce the U.S. Ocean Cargo Preference Requirements and Save $140 million

The U.S. cargo preference program and other Maritime subsidies to U.S. merchant vessels cost American taxpayers millions of dollars each year to promote and maintain inefficient and non-competitive shipping practices. The U.S. fleet continues to diminish despite increasing cargo preference requirements for the transportation of vital humanitarian assistance cargoes necessary to achieve global food security objectives ...more »

Digital Tech Data

My experience of approximately 23 years with the US NAVY and US Air force, Military/Civilian, Mechanic and Information Technology Specialist. I have seen tech data come in many forms and require many platforms to make it available to the end users. What a lot of people don’t see with some of the more elaborate programs written are issues the end users have getting their tech data to work. Many require difficult third ...more »

GSA Fleet Sharing and Accountability Could Save $6Billion and Environment

GSA has about 212,000 vehicles in its fleet divided among 75 federal agencies. Most of these vehicles are assigned to individuals ie. one vehicle one man. Last year alone, GSA spent $287 Million to buy 17, 205 new vehicles to its fleet bringing the new number to about 220, 205 vehicles. Each vehicle than requires insurance, gas, toll expenses, parking fees in some instances, violations etc etc. Lest not forget most of ...more »

Restructure the US Tax code and revenue collection systems

Each year millions of hours and dolalrs are spent by US citizens to complete tax forms. On the receiving end, scores of Internal Revenue Service (IRS) agents must accurately and go through each case and verify this complex submission. The new health care bill alone added some 30,000 IRS agents; there salary alone would be millions of dollars per year and that is just the tip of the iceberg. While it is important for ...more »

UNDOCUMENTED IMMIGRATION SOLUTION: SELF FUNDED DETERRENT PREVENTING THE HIRING OF UNDOCUMENTED WORKERS

I suggest a new type of proactive solution in the form of an enforcement system to deter the hiring of undocumented workers (illegal aliens, deportable/inadmissible aliens) through self funded economic incentives (monetary rewards) generated by fines. It will encourage the public to report violators and discourage employers from hiring undocumented workers. A percentage of the fines levied on employers of undocumented ...more »

Get the word out in time

How about getting the word out in a timely manner about suggestions? I got an electronic scan of a paper letter dated 7/23/10 on 7/29/10 @ 1344 (central) saying that last day to submit ideas is 7/29/10. Why does it take a week to send an electronic file around? Why even a letter? Efficiency? yeah, right.

Ovens In Kitchen - Save Time AND Gas

Installing one or more ovens to cook food during lunch would save a great deal of money. Many government facilities are geographically large, and it can often take 10 or more minutes to get to/from the work site from the main gate. Further, on-post dining facilities are underutilized due to concerns on food quality or variety. As a result, many employees drive off-post to eat, where much of the commute it spent simply ...more »

Replace Cash

Printing money is expensive. We could save money with an automated system. I propose we show our patriotism by getting an American flag tattooed onto our hand – or some patriotic Americans can have it on their forehead. The flag will be specially coded with a small bar code under it that is unique for every citizen. A database will keep track of each person’s accounts. To enforce this system, cash will become void ...more »

Expedite Contract definitizations - control government spending – save billions of dollars!!!

Expedite Contract definitizations - control government costs – save billions of dollars! According to the GAO 2005 report approx. $7billion of defense spending a year is being executed under Undefinitized Contract Actions (UCAs). Due to the lack of cost control under UCAs, the government is exposed to billions of dollars of wasted/uncontrolled spending with little to no accountability. I propose the government implementing ...more »

Real Security at Airports

Security at Airports: Currently, our security consists of X-Ray scans to detect metals (not explosives, not chemicals) and personnel to watch X-Ray machines. We have the APPEARANCE of security but it’s not real, because it does NOT adequately address the threat. We can use highly efficient sniffers at entrances to the airport that can detect minute amounts of explosives, chemicals, and gases of interest as people enter ...more »

Save money and increase efficiency through 4 day work weeks

I suggest that the Government go to a 4 day 40 hour week with all employees having Friday off. 1. The Government would save on utility costs for buildings i.e. 4 days instead of 5. This would save millions of dollars a year on energy. 2. Custodial services cost would decrease. 3. Transportation costs would decrease. The road systems would last longer with less cars on the road and would lower tranportation emissions ...more »

CONDITIONAL RESIDENT CARDS. A TRUE SOLUTION TO ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION.

There are not 100 illegal immigrants in the USA….. There are thousands. A CONDITIONAL RESIDENT CARD should be given to immigrants who DO NOT have a criminal record for murder, rape, DUI, or domestic violence. Those illegal immigrants who, at any point in their stay in the US, committed those crimes, should get DEPORTED to their country of origin right away. Illegal immigrants should pay a fine of $2,000 to $6,000 if ...more »

Default Typeset

Change all default typeset to Century Gothic, which saves 30% more ink than Arial. This would result in millions of dollars in savings for the government, with a very simple change.
