UNDOCUMENTED IMMIGRATION SOLUTION: SELF FUNDED DETERRENT PREVENTING THE HIRING OF UNDOCUMENTED WORKERS

I suggest a new type of proactive solution in the form of an enforcement system to deter the hiring of undocumented workers (illegal aliens, deportable/inadmissible aliens) through self funded economic incentives (monetary rewards) generated by fines. It will encourage the public to report violators and discourage employers from hiring undocumented workers. A percentage of the fines levied on employers of undocumented... more »

What: Redesign the Section-8 program into a Transitional Housing Program (THP). How: The idea is to transform the current program into a program that will help individuals and their families transition into independent status within 6 months. If school uniforms were mandatory in every state, parents should be and would be encoraged to reuse and recycle unifroms and school sports kits because is GREEN AND SAVES MONEY! Quit Paying for External Training When Internal Training on same topic is available!

Although much can be learned from outside organizations, we routinely pay outside agencies to provide training that we offer internally. Why would we invest the time and money to develop our own training seminars if we don't feel they are valuable enough to send our employees to? For example, my VISN is sending about 25 people from each facility to Disney World for leadership training. Simultaneously, the VA is rolling... more »

Workfare Not Welfare

Require individuals and families work a number of hours each payment period to support their benefits. Consider this a service learning opportunity where everyone is obligated to help earn their income. Opportunities can exist in day care centers, adult day care centers, homeless shelters, cleaning parks and roadways. States, counties, cities, and communities are reducing staff due to the economic conditions and need... more »

Work Camps

Unemployment in this country is at emergency levels. Welfare recipients need not just be given food, clothing and housing, but they need to learn some valuable life skills. Since this is an emergency, I suggest that FEMA set up camps (similar to those set up for hurricanes and natural disasters) that are designed to put the welfare recipients to work. Anyone who wants to receive free government benefits is welcome... more »
