UNDOCUMENTED IMMIGRATION SOLUTION: SELF FUNDED DETERRENT PREVENTING THE HIRING OF UNDOCUMENTED WORKERS

Stage: Active

Campaign: Department of Homeland Security

I suggest a new type of proactive solution in the form of an enforcement system to deter the hiring of undocumented workers (illegal aliens, deportable/inadmissible aliens) through self funded economic incentives (monetary rewards) generated by fines. It will encourage the public to report violators and discourage employers from hiring undocumented workers. A percentage of the fines levied on employers of undocumented ...more »

Save Hundreds/Thousands of Dollars on Health Care Premiums by Offering a 2-Party Health Care Plan

Stage: Active

Campaign: Department of Defense

The Federal Government and its employees could save hundreds of dollars each month if there was a 2-Party health care plan option offered, not just a Family plan. I was a single parent for 15 years (just recently married) and all other employment before working for the Government offered 2-Party plans. My insurance premium more than doubled (nearly tripled) going to a Family plan. Besides single parents, there are a lot ...more »

Replace Cash

Stage: Active

Campaign: Department of the Treasury

Printing money is expensive. We could save money with an automated system. I propose we show our patriotism by getting an American flag tattooed onto our hand – or some patriotic Americans can have it on their forehead. The flag will be specially coded with a small bar code under it that is unique for every citizen. A database will keep track of each person’s accounts. To enforce this system, cash will become void ...more »

Stage: Active

Campaign: Department of Housing and Urban Development

What: Redesign the Section-8 program into a Transitional Housing Program (THP). How: The idea is to transform the current program into a program that will help individuals and their families transition into independent status within 6 months. Federal Government Information Technology Best Practices Website

Stage: Active

Campaign: Executive Office of the President

I have observed a need for a single, federal government best practices website for federal Information Techonology (IT) projects. The IT best practices website would include best practices related to IT related project management, requirements gathering, risks assessment, IT reference materials, systems testing information, systems training, systems security, and other established IT related best practices. All federal documents and shipping should be mandated to go USPS and it should go for free.

Stage: Active

Campaign: Executive Office of the President

All federal documents and shipping should be mandated to go USPS and it should go for free. No federal agency should be required to pay another federal agency for services and we need to start with USPS, not charging other federal agencies for postage. Shuffling payments back and forth between federal agencies just adds to the cost of doing business. USPS is being subsidized from the federal budget anyway, why continue ...more »

We all need to get in the habit of playing our part environmentally by reducing, reusing and recycling our waste, and if it has financial benefits then it is an even bigger bonus. Instead of using proprietary operating systems Like Microsoft consider going to an Open Database Standard like Ubuntu.

Stage: Active

Campaign: Executive Office of the President

Why continue to pay for proprietary operating systems like Microsoft when open database standard products like Ubuntu are available for free. The government pays millions every year for Microsoft enterprise licenses, for not only its operating system (Windows) but for its Office suite browser etc. All of these products are available in the open database standers arena and all are configured to work with Ubuntu. Work Camps

Stage: Active

Campaign: Department of Homeland Security

Unemployment in this country is at emergency levels. Welfare recipients need not just be given food, clothing and housing, but they need to learn some valuable life skills. Since this is an emergency, I suggest that FEMA set up camps (similar to those set up for hurricanes and natural disasters) that are designed to put the welfare recipients to work. Anyone who wants to receive free government benefits is welcome ...more »

Make telecommuting a reality Millions of people are projected to move into the DC area in the next 10 years. We spend billions on our roads and metro system to accomodate the daily traffic. Increase Timelines for Obligating Use or Lose Funds

Stage: Active

Campaign: Executive Office of the President

.Use or lose policies can result in lost opportunities or waste of funds. For example, ARRA funds need to be obligated or returned by September 30, 2010. There is tremendous challenge and pressure to create projects to use these funds. While it is a great opportunity to fund projects, improve infrastructure, create jobs, etc., deadlines are compressed and projects are accelerated, which can result in wasted money, poor ...more »

Replace Single-Flight METRO Escalators With Stairs

Stage: Active

Campaign: Department of Transportation

According to METRO’s website 13% of its 588 escalators were not in service today (7/22/10). The majority of those currently being repaired ascend a single flight and the agency spends between $25M-$30M annually (in direct costs) to maintain them. This does not include overhead costs, like energy consumption. Other subway systems utilize stairs for single flights because stairs increase the flow of traffic, are less ...more »

ERO CAN SAVE MONEY ON A NUMBER OF DEPORTATIONS

When it comes to aliens with a final order of removal who are in ERO custody and whose Embassies are either notorious for not issuing a passport or travel document or the alien refuses to cooperate with his or her removal, and the alien previously held LPR, Asylee or Refugee status, ERO should be able to petition USCIS to issue these removable aliens a travel document (Form I-326), which then can be used to effect the ...more »

One captain on the ship

Stage: Active

Campaign: National Aeronautics and Space Administration

Ensure a single accountable authority for all programs, especially multi-agency programs. When more than one organization has equal authority on a program, stalemates can occur over design or implementation differences. There should always be one clear management authority capable of resolving differences and moving a program forward, without endless "stakeholder" review cycles.

FEMA Inspections

Stage: Active

Campaign: Department of Homeland Security

I suggest FEMA inspect the residence and property once. At this time inspections generated for each registration, no matter if the registrants are roommates, family living in the same house, or boarders living together in the same house. If these are combined it will save millions of dollars. This will not be perfect and reinspection of the same property will occur, but that should be the exception, not the rule.
