cancel $32B/yr NASA program

NASA should be disbanded. Inherently government programs (test facilities, launch facilities) shall go to the AirForce. The rest of the programs (research facilities and DeepSpaceNetwork) and funding shall go to the universities. The bureaucracy around the NASA empire has shifted to a nationalistic secrecy that mostly supports the military not the original and current charters of improving science and technology education ...more »

Every Federal employee should receive an iphone to replace their desk phone

Every Federal government employee should eventually be issued a smart phone as their primary telephone number. This could be done on a phased approach totally eliminating desktop phones in five years. All deskphones should be eliminated where there is cell coverage. This will save the government millions of dollars in maintaining current telecommunication equipment. Most employees carry around two phones, personal, ...more »

Per Diem

I suggest the MI&E rates (not lodging rates) be lowered to 60% of their current rate. It currently lowers to 60% on day 31 of most long-term details. This suggests that it does not need to be so high for days 1 - 30. This would save millions of dollars in sending employees to trainings, work groups, or details. This would also diminish the current public image of government employees eating expensive meals on the ...more »

Give me less money

Pay me less!

At GS-7 paygrade, I earn at least 3 times as much as what it costs me to live.

If there were the option to receive less money, and divert the rest of my income to government projects I saw as worthy (e.g., protecting land, weaning America off of fossil fuels), I would jump on board.

Printing

Each worker should have to pay for paper and ink that is used (through their respective departments). If we tracked paper and ink usage on an individual basis, this would save huge $ and cut down on printing that is unnecessary.

One World Government

The United States shall make every effort to work toward the goal of uniting the entire planet under a new world order. We could bring in more taxpayers from all over the world and end senseless war. Defense would be concerned with defending the planet instead of having to worry about another nation on our own planet.

Environmental Protection Agency

Eliminate the EPA

Seriously. What has the Environmental Protection Agency done to protect the environment in the Gulf of Mexico since the BP oil platform explosion? All we hear is how stupid bureaucratic regulations are getting in the way of the necessary cleanup. Get rid of the EPA - we could save billions.

Traveling on the cheap

Reduce per diem rates and encourage employees to stay in less expensive hotels. Most Federal government employees currently receive a flat per diem rate dependng on the city or county to which they are traveling. Per diem is meant to provide a subsidy to employees for costs incurred while traveling not a bonus to their paycheck. Per diem rates could be substantially reduced in most areas while still providing an amount ...more »

Health Care Savings for all government employees and Congress

Enroll all employees into the VA Health Care System, except for persons whose residence is geographically challenged to travel to a VA Medical Center. A portion of the projected health benefit costs could be appropriated to the VA to enhance services, where needed, for our veterans and our government employees. It would save taxpayer, and employees' families money, and send a message of confidence in the health care ...more »
