No More First Class for Executives

Stop making taxpayers pay for premium accomodations (hotel, airlines, rental cars) for traveling executives. If they want to travel in better than standard, they should pay for it with their own money, not at taxpayer expense.

Excessive Fees and Charges through the Travel System

Excessive processing fees are needlessly charged and many times inflated prices for flights are billed to the federal government through the travel system. The government is charged for every voucher processed through the system. The simplest voucher that pays an employee a single per diem without hotel charges, costs the government over $13; and the travel agency did not do anything except their computer system was ...more »

Eliminate Congress Ability to Give Themselves Raises

I suggest that we eliminate Congress ability to give themselves raises. Raises should be based on their work and voted on by the citizens of the U.S. Congress should only make a certain percentage of the Federal governments lowest paid GS worker. Like the CEOs in Japan.

Prisoners should farm their own food.

The government spends between $25,000-$36,000 per inmate every year, with 7.3 million people in prison. I think the government should turn the prison grounds into farm land and have the inmates farm and work for their food and raise livestock. If a prisoner should refuse to work, then they should get peanut butter and jelly or balogna sandwiches. They shouldn't walk into prison expecting a free ride. Also, the other ...more »

Put elected officials on Social Security

Put elected officials on the same Social Security program as the public, and eliminate the current program benefiting them. Goverment officials need some incentive to fix the Social Security system.

180° Leadership Assessment

Allow employees to participate in 180° Leadership Assessments of their managers/executives as well as themselves during their Performance Appraisals. Creating a 2-way street (versus top down) could champion greater reward linkage to performance, collaboration, and communication amongst the whole work force. Utilizing an acceptable/approved universal electronic system across government to collect and share this data ...more »

Government benefits

I suggest that the members of Congress and the Senate both fall under the same health plan and Social Security that they have voted in for the American public. This would result in a cost savings of millions of dollars to the American people.

Workfare Not Welfare

Require individuals and families work a number of hours each payment period to support their benefits. Consider this a service learning opportunity where everyone is obligated to help earn their income. Opportunities can exist in day care centers, adult day care centers, homeless shelters, cleaning parks and roadways. States, counties, cities, and communities are reducing staff due to the economic conditions and need ...more »

Strongly encourage all Federal Prisons to grow their own produce and compost the excess waste.

There are many federal prisons that have enough space to effectively grow enough vegetation to reduce the amount of produce purchased from outside sources. This would also help the environment by decreasing the amount of fuel used to ship and transport produce purchased on a weekly basis. The compost would be an asset to the earth and help to replenish and stabilize nutrients within the ground. The consumption of ...more »

Mandate prisoners to work on highways, parks, rivers, etc clean up and used government money set aside for states highways, park

I suggest that prisoners should be mandated to clean highways, rivers, the oil spills (?) as a part of rehabilitation. The government has to pay x amount of dollars on them anyway to keep them imprisoned; let them earn their pay and give back to society. This should be a win win situation all the way around. The money spent on parks, highways and grounds that are set aside for each state can be set aside for something ...more »
