Prisoners Grow Their Own Food

Prisoner self-provisioning, whether in govern run or privately operated facilities, require prisoners to grow and produce their own food. It is much cheaper for taxpayers to provide the "starts" for growing their own sustanance. In growing and providing for their own sustanence, we are also educating and training them in job skills. Reduces costs for support of prisons and prisoners. Increases job skills of prisoners ...more »

Poor performer

There are so many good ideas to save $ in the federal government. However, no one wants to talk about poor performers and how much it costs to get rid of one. The amount of time a manager has to spend, documenting, then facing legal obstacles of having to be perfect. Someone should do a study to look at how much hours spent to get rid of someone that is not performing up to par. Then there are layers of appeal courts ...more »

Make travel reimbursments into direct deposit.

Convert travel reimbursement to direct deposit. This would eliminate the issuing of checks, mailing and processing involved for government employees being reimbursed for travel associated with travel, training and conferences.

Energy Savings By Executive Order

The President should sign an Executive Order mandating that ALL federal government buildings be "powered down" to minimal settings after closing hours each day and on weekends to save energy, to include air conditioners and heaters. If this has been done before . . . "never mind". :)

Abolish the Board of Immigration Appeals

I suggest you: Abolish the Board of Immigration Appeals I am a career immigration officer and have witnessed for years the complete waste and buerocracy of this lumbering and incompetent agency. They routinely take up to TWO YEARS to make a decision on persons who are incarcerated at GOVERNMENT EXPENSE costing at times over $100 a day and even up to FIVE YEARS on non detained cases. All so a panel of 3 judges can agree ...more »

Budget Conservation and Return Program

This will save hundreds of millions each year. PROBLEM: Every agency receives funds allocated for different purposes (furniture, salaries, travel) and if funds are NOT spent by the close of the accounting period, a push is made to spend. This is done so the agency does not have to return money and the agency can ask for a budget increase the next year.(Every agency is afraid to return funds because it will be a factor ...more »

Turn Down the Air Conditioning in Summer.

Cut down building air conditioning in summer. Power companies inform us to do this at home, however, we freeze at the office and have to take a walk outside to warm up. There should be a lot of savings in turning down the air conditioning..

Contracting Ethical Abuse Prevention

The suggestion is made to increase regulatory controls, auditing oversight, and associated penalties for Federal Officials using their Government positions to direct Government work towards private contractors who inturn hire the same Federal Officials two years after they have signed a whopping monetary contract with a particular contractor and then retire. It is common place to see Federal Officials signing contracts ...more »

Pacer Court Filing System Savings

I suggest you look into working out a deal with Pacer Court document service because.... Pacer is a Sole Provider contract and the only reason this company makes a dime is because the government pretty much requires attorneys to use the service for filing, docketing and tracking cases. Pacer makes money because so many companies including law firms, credit and mortgage companies, petition preparers and such must have ...more »

Law Enforcement - Shared Resources

Reorganize and consolidate the Federal law enforcement community (FBI; DEA; ATF; US Marshals; Secret Service, those elements of the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) and the Customs Service that provide major investigative efforts in the federal criminal law enforcement process, etc.) under a separate, centralized agency head to create unity, improve efficiency, minimize overlapping responsibilities and reduce redundancy. ...more »

Full accountability for ALL

My suggestion covers all federal agencies. All agencies need to increase the policing part of their agencies. We can continue to find faults and misuse and as long the interlopers are not brought to justice in some fashion, the news spreads how to work the system. More police more accountability.
