How The US Government Can Save Billions of Dollars

I suggest that we change how the Government approaches the end of the fiscal year. Organizations are afraid if they don't spend their budgets that their budgets will be reduced the following year. This fear causes a spending frenzy at the end of the fiscal year that probably results in billions of dollars of purchases of unneeded or foolish purchases. Pay No More than Retail

I suggest that government mandates that it will not pay more than the retail listed price for any expenditure. I find the fact that we pay more for cell phones and computers than a consumer who does not buy in bulk to be a major problem.

Sort SAVE Award ideas by common threads

There have been some wonderful ideas captured in the SAVE Award process. Also, many ideas are being repeated several times. It would be good to take a look at all the ideas and sort them by theme instead of agency and find the top ideas that way. PROVIDE PERMANENT GOVERNMENT STATUS TO ALL FEMA EMPLOYEES WITH 3 OR MORE YEARS OF CONTINUOUS SERVICE

Transferrable Security Clearances

My suggestion is to have active security clearances transferrable between agencies. I have a clearance with DoD - I had to go though the clearance process and the clearance I have at DHS is no where NEAR the clearance I have with DoD. Another instance is there is a co-worker of mine is transferring between ICE and CBP (both programs of DHS) - she had to go through clearance procedures before she could get a start date. ...more »

TEN HOUR WORK DAY

TEN HOUR DAYS, for Federal Employees, will lower energy consumption and utility bills from the buildings and vehicles we use. Quit renaming agencies for political reasons

Quit renaming agencies for political reasons (e.g. changing ICE to HSI). The cost of rebranding all of their equipment (including the time employees take getting photos for new creds, changing business cards, changing voicemail and email signatures, etc. and explaining to their contacts about the changes - plus the time of those contacts learning about the changes and changing their contact lists appropriately) is ridiculous. ...more »

Time off awards for saving money

Why not reward employees with time off awards when they save the govt. money? e.g., when on govt travel, travel, flying home the evening after the workday rather than the next morning, or staying with relatives instead of booking a hotel.

Reciprocity of Security Clearances Within Federal Agencies

Reciprocity of security clearances and access badging within Federal Agencies needs to be honored. Supposedly there is statute in place, but Agencies are not following the law. Money is being wasted on getting new security clearances when an individual, an employee of the parent Agency, already has a current clearance.
