I have a great one. Instead of continuing to pay for folks who have been out of work forever, start creating more private sector jobs! Including those jobs that can be done more efficiently by the private sector and eliminate more public positions!
The National Interagency Management Organization Teams should be eliminated or at the least reduced to one. This idea has been a failure and does nothing more than to continue to eat up Forest Service budget. There is still not a good understanding of what they do and when they do get used, they are usually providing a redundant service.
In order to make the Postal Service more efficient, why couldn't we eliminate door-to-door delivery and create localized delivery points throughout communities? They already exist in many communities. Make it a standard process across the country. This would increase delivery times and would reduce the amount of fuel needed to run all of our postal fleet.
If we were to standardize our budget systems amongst many of our land management agencies and possibly others, we could create a much more efficient system. It would also allow us to create better referral lists for vacant administrative and financial positions within the agencies. We wouldn't have to constantly cross-train folks coming from another agency and it would create a more fair and equal environment for hiring. ...more »
Quit wasting millions of dollars on the failed Fire Program Analysis (FPA). We need to cut our losses and move on. This was a good idea but we are now at a point where we continue to throw good money after bad.
