Hospitals have been saving money by having personnel work 4-day weeks for years. This increases efficiency by working longer hours daily and allows 1 day during the work week that everyone is off. This one day off would allow for energy consumption AND very importantly, completion of Facilities projects that cannot be conducted during work hours, i.e., paving, painting, etc.
Saving money by sharing resources - too many projects ends with lots of useful equipment that goes to Surplus or storage when other projects could use it to save money. If we had an Web-based equipment clearing house at each site that all items could be post on for reuse, we would save precious resources - time and money - and make our projects more successful.
Replace carbon forms and hard copy signatures with e-forms and e-signatures. This would save time chasing down signatures, money spent on paper and labor, and the environment by reducing our carbon foot print by avoiding use of paper where it is simply not necessary to accomplish our tasks and our mission.
If each building had a wall-mounted property scanner that accepted/scanned the property number and allowed entry of the badge # and new location the equipment was going to, we would save unprecidented amounts of time and money tracking and logging equipment locations annually.
