Complete centralization by removing the remaining vestiges of account functions from the field office which will be able to focus on marketing & compliance. This would include local clearance of 912 issues (enhance existing procedures to allow for lender to handle totally); certificate of competency financial reviews (handled by Area contracting office); concentrate OGC staff to centers/area/regional offices not field. ...more »
Embrace alternate work site/telecommute for field office personnel while leveraging existing resource partner relationships. Achieve cost savings through reallocation of current office lease expenditures to (1) existing resource partners who, in turn, provide nominal office space (desk) and access to their existing conference/meeting areas; and (2) providing technology (portable pc with wireless access/mobile phone) to ...more »
Enhance the development of SBA field leadership (DD/DDD) through re-instituting mandatory 2-3 year office rotations. Mobility Agreements are already in place to implement immediately. Couple with existing DD mentor program. Fosters proactive, creative leadership skills while mitigating entrenched hierarchy.
Currently, SBA has 68 field offices covering the 50 states, District of Columbia, Puerto Rico/Virgin Islands and Guam; with several states containing multiple districts. Technology and mission delivery streamline through centralization has made the need for multiple-district states obsolete. Pare down the districts to one per state/territory across the board.
