Utilize technology similar to Google for the search engine for the SSA website to make it easier for the public to find info on the site. It is often hard to find answers on the site because the search engine is not as specific as search engines such as Google. Eliminate payment of lump sum death payments. $255 is a meager amount compared to current funeral costs. The costs of taking and processing these claims as well as payee issues and overpayments that can arise associated with these benefits add to reasons not to continue their entitlement.
Change SSA employees pay from hourly to salaried and give incentives similar to the private sector. Not having a cap on hours could promote better service and reduce costs such as overtime.
Devote more finances to verifying claimants' work activity before and after a disability decision is made. It often happens that either claimants do not disclose work or we do not act quickly enough when work is reported. This can cause either payment to claimants who do not genuinely meet a listing or significant overpayments which also cause more time for Social Security employees that could be spent elsewhere.
