SELF-SERVICE KIOSKS
Unmanned self-service kiosks will be located throughout communities in strategic high-traffic locations such as public libraries, colleges, malls, military bases, etc.) by providing following services to public:
1) Forms for above-mentioned agencies & others listed in Catalog of Federal Domestic Assistance
( https://www.cfda.gov/index?cck=1&au=&ck= ).
Service of offering an outreach to public as well as will provide resources i.e. paper forms, info sheets, available.
Does idea yield savings while also improving way government operates?
Savings Due to Creation of Kiosks:
Less Phone Calls from Public to Federal Agencies as the information and forms are readily accessible to them
Less Need to Wait on Public at Federal Agencies as they can help themselves without having a need to go to Federal Agency in person
(Less traffic of public into Federal Agencies) = shorter waiting lines at Federal Agencies
Less Postage used by Federal Agency as public will procure forms in person at kiosks, rather than requesting forms be mailed to them
Kiosks will create a better-informed public. Public may learn they don’t qualify for a program, may have to gather documents before contacting Federal Agency, & will come to appointments at Federal Agency better prepared with forms already completed, & possibly have questions ready to ask
Kiosks will require less public service at Federal Agencies because public will be able to do more independently outside of the agency.
Information Sheets & Forms will direct those with computers to visit websites, to complete applications online, etc.
One could provide public with access on a computer at kiosk to research basic questions about various Federal Agencies, Programs, etc.
Does idea reduce costs in way thats concrete & quantifiable?
Reduced costs that are quantifiable & concrete could be measured by less phone calls made by public to Federal Agencies that employees would no longer have, by having public obtain forms & applications at kiosks, less public traffic in Federal Agencies = less waiting time for public inside agencies, less mailing costs.
Does idea improve way government operates by:
Does idea improve quality of output at lower costs; or
It is cheaper for Federal Agencies to have self-serve kiosks than to pay an employees to wait on public to provide such services as answering same questions over & over, handing out forms, etc.
Does idea simplify processes to reduce administrative burden; or
Kiosks will simplify process of providing public with information & forms & will also reduce administrative burden on federal employees as kiosks are self-serve.
Does idea improve speed of government operations to improve efficiency?
Information and forms obtained by public at kiosks will improve efficiency of Federal Agencies & improve speed of their operations because federal employees will have their time freed up to work on more important things.
Does idea have a tangible impact on citizens’ lives or the environment?
Kiosks will provide a tangible impact on public’s lives due to their being physically present & accessible with easy-to-use instructions, forms available, etc.
Public won’t have to drive to Federal Agencies to obtain answers to basic information & to obtain applications.
Environment: It’ll provide convenience to public & ease the administrative burden on Federal Agencies.
Is there a clear & practical plan for implementing idea?
Yes. Simply put, the plan would be to designate places to place kiosks, design kiosks & build them, & place them in the designated areas & they would be self-service. This is very practical as low-cost.
Will it be possible to begin realizing savings immediately by using idea?
Yes. Immediate savings will be realized by less man-hours spent by employees of Federal Agencies answering questions on telephone & in person, & handing out forms. Employees will have more time to perform other duties which will make them more efficient.
