Centralize department or agency to manage all US federal government security clearances and investigations to include Sensitive Compartmented Information. This agency must be the single controlling authority to administer and manage the entire security clearance investigation process. Currently individual agencies own and perform their own security clearance investigations, resulting in a plethora of forms, different interpretations of standards, duplicity, and records maintenance. Often one agency will not recognize another’s security clearance or access. Centralizing security clearance investigations into a single agency ensures process standardization and eliminates the inconsistent standards currently employed across multiple organizations. Security-clearance, investigation process centralization will reduce resources, save time and money.
