Determine Computer Workstation Power-Saving Profiles based on Mission and apply a general power saving policy "sleep mode" to computers after being inactive for a max of one hour. Wake-On-Lan technology could be used to wake the machines for 'scheduled tasks' & updates. If a user hasn't typed anything in an hour, they should be patient enough to wait for the computer to spend 2-3 minutes waking up & restoring their session. This would require all computers be energy efficient & support the power profiles & wake-on-lan features in bios. Cost saving incentives in power savings should be calculated and applied back to each sites budget for purchasing newer more "energy efficient" devices going forward to reward and fund greener technology, like solar power on roof tops for southern states & replacing hot water heaters with on-demand units.
