I suggest you launch an energy-conservation campaign that simply encourages government workers to turn off electrical devices not in use. I constantly see computer workstations, fans, and lighting on at night and over weekends. Lights are routinely on in occupied areas where ambient lighting is sufficient, and in unoccupied areas such as conference rooms, break rooms, and refrigerator rooms. Without asking workers to sacrifice anything, the savings from such a campaign should be significant considering the number of government workers and buildings throughout the world. The campaign should NOT waste massive amounts of paper or hire people to promote it – just a simple email from time to time to give people some simple energy-saving suggestions and an idea of the cost savings involved.
