BOP Mainline

Stop feeding the inmate population three hot meals per day. I have an excellent job, but I cannot afford to eat three hot meals per day. I propose a simple breakfast consisting of cereals or oatmeal; a hot noon meal due to there being more staff to respond to any situtations; and a dinner of a sandwich and chips. There would be a cost savings in food, and if implemented correctly, possibly medical expenses as well.... more »

Budget

This will save millions each year.

PROBLEM: Every department receives funds allocated for operation. If funds are not spent by the close of the accounting period, a push is made to spend. This is done so the agency does not have to return money and it will not get lowered the following year.

Millions would be saved if the money would roll over into the following years budget and incorperate a process to give funds back... more »

food costs and waste stoppage

Cut food waste AND budget food costs by management of portion control........every prison kitchen should be using the card swipe method to see that every inmate eats only his serving allotment per meal AND stop the current program of "every meal tray looks the same" instead let the inmate tell you what he will eat or what he wants on the tray so that the rest is not simply tossed in the trash can because he or she doesnt... more »

Waste Recycle

Our waste is trucked out of here twice weekly by W.S.I. They estimate that approximately three (3) tons of each load is food waste (slop) from Food Service. W.S.I. charges $52 per ton to dispose of the waste at FCC Coleman USP2. Just for USP2, I estimate that $16,224 is spent yearly for this service. Double that amount by adding USP1 and quadrouple that amount (at least) by adding the whole complex. That is an estimated... more »

Legislative Branch

Save money, time and space.

have a great idea to save money and space for all government facilities. We should all be able to get scanning system. Individualized by agency this

will save space and will reduce the need to buy paper. This will save money and reduce waste. This helps both the environment and save money. The Bureau of Prisons would be able to save money, plus be able to do more with the space given to employees.
