Incentivize savings via employee appraisals

Add a section to all US government employees' appraisals for the employee and their supervisor to document how the employee has saved money or energy without reducing the quality of their work or their office's work. In any organization what you measure and reward will grow. Often employees have a chance to save the government money or energy, but they are not incentivized. Official Travel Your Way

The expense of official travel is reason enough to simplify the system. Now, with so many people utilizing travel services (and very proficiently), I beleive it makes sense to end the relationships with multiple government travel contractors and end the fees we pay for "self-help" travel . Customer service is non-existent and we end up doing it ourselves anyway. Why not let feds do their own travel, their own way.... more »

Bring in the Dough for Bus Depots!

Huge government parking lots are mostly vacant outside of normal business hours. The Federal government should lease its parking lots during the times they are least used to local governments for bus depots. This would produce revenue and make better use of land when it is vacant.

Many Ideas Should be Implemented.

Many of the ideas entered in the Save Award contest are worthy of being implemented. They should not be discarded based solely on the number of votes received. Some highly valuable ideas may have only received a small number of votes because they were submitted on the later side, were not viewed by most voters, or were not "popular" with some voters.
