Save Billions of Budget Dollars by Using Existing Social Security Offices to Administer New Health Care Plan

I suggest you...save several billion of dollars per year by Using Existing Social Security Offices to Administer New Health Care Plan:
In order to administer the new health care plan established by Congress, the government will have to spend hundreds of millions of dollars to set up a service network. It can take GSA 2 to 3 years to build out new office space. I suggest that we use the 1200 or so field offices already... more »

Using Unused Office Supplies

A nuisance in each office federal-wide is the storage of office supplies that no one is using now . They were bought when someone in the past requested them, but that person is gone, or he/she found they like something else better now. These unwanted supplies just build up and clog up storage spaces. This is happening in thousands of offices federal-wide.
So what to do with them? Suggest each installation set up... more »

This idea would also help us avoid future oil spills by becoming less dependent on foreign oil .At the end of the Industrial Revolution our government entered the White Collar Era. We have grown up during the Information Age which morphed into the Digital Age that we are in right now. Increase A/C thermostat upper range limit

Air Conditioning thermostats are externally limited so that a user cannot change the temperature outside of a small range. Workers are working with their coats on because they are cold inside when it is 90-degrees outside. Increase the upper range limit so that users can make the room warmer if they want to, saving valuable electricity.

Print our own business cards internally utilizing any office printer/copier, a simple Word template, and inexpensive 81/2" x 11" perforated business card stock. I imagine the card stock could be bought in bulk by each agency and a template could be circulated for employees to simply create their own business cards. Additionally, if an employee is promoted, transferred, etc. new business cards can be created as needed... more »

Office Supplies Reuse Program

I suggest that all agencies begin an “Office Supplies Reuse Program” - this can both save money (office supplies are expensive!) and promote "green" practices by reducing waste and keeping items out of landfills.

Problem: When agency personnel clean out their offices the hallways become littered with dumpsters full of only slightly used binders, tape dispensers, file organizers, desk furniture, pens, pencils, accordion... more »

Use Open Source

Use open source products rather than 3rd party. This idea would eliminate tremendous amounts of money that is wasted buying products with no comparative advantage. For example, consider how much is spent on every government employee to provide a slew of Microsoft products that are mostly not used, provide no comparative benefit to citizens, and provide no tangible benefit to users over open source versions?
