Improving safety & saving money

Every year we have useful safety training, as I am sure other agencies do. But afterwards, we have to take time to update our safety gear separately. It would save a lot of employee time and related expense to the government if part of that training would dedicated to take steps to update the employees personal protective gear. This would reduce the time needed to keep gear current, make sure the gear is current and... more »

Small construction site safety inspections

OSHA does not have information about small construction sites and can inspect them only because of complaints/referrals, accidents, or found them randomly - just driving around. On the other side, the rate of accidents in small construction businesses is high.
I would suggest, to initiate a procedure for a new federal law under the OSH ACT: when the local building department issues a work permit it should immediately... more »

Department of the Treasury

Treasury entrance

I suggest you reopen the Main Treasury 15th St. entrance to passholders. This will reduce entry and exit time for staff. It will also increase safety, as the other entrances have 16+ steps and loose tiles and are dangerously slipper when wet, slick, or icy. There is already a secret service officer posted at the entance, so should not require additional staffing during business hours.
