Coordinate death records with SSA payments

Currently, the Social Security Administration continues to pay benefits to the deceased until someone notifies them that the person is deceased, at which time they stop payments and try to recoup any payments made after the time of death. Coordinating death records with SSA would save money currently spent on making and attempting to recoup these erroneous payments.

Save Billions of Budget Dollars by Using Existing Social Security Offices to Administer New Health Care Plan

I suggest you...save several billion of dollars per year by Using Existing Social Security Offices to Administer New Health Care Plan:
In order to administer the new health care plan established by Congress, the government will have to spend hundreds of millions of dollars to set up a service network. It can take GSA 2 to 3 years to build out new office space. I suggest that we use the 1200 or so field offices already... more »

BIG CDR backlog + small CDR budget = no CDR mailers

Stop sending Continuing Disability Review (CDR) mailer forms to disability beneficiaries while there is insufficient funding to perform the resulting full medical reviews (FMR). At the start of FY2011 there will be approximately 1,500,000 cases in the CDR FMR backlog whereas only 359,800 CDR FMRs are budgeted for completion in FY2011. Releasing the planned 700,000+ CDR mailers in FY2011 would unnecessarily inconvenience... more »

Internet use

Create a one stop shop on the internet for Government Agencies. Have some basic information on the different Agencies with a link to each of their websites. This will help the government as a whole by encouraging the public to use the internet. This would reduce the amount of time that the employees would be using answering basic questions that could be answered on the internet and they could use that time to get other... more »

Electronic Timeclock

The SSA should switch to digital time recording for employees. If the time records were electronic we would save paper and have an accurate record of time. Additionally, since our time and leave is monitored online we could submit leave requests using electronic means which would make work more productive for employees and management.

SSA/CMS interface

Hello, I would like to suggest that we set up a comprehensive system interface between the Social Security Administration (SSA) and the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS). Right now SSA does have limited access to CMS' records in that we can verify billing, HI/SMI start and stop dates as well as third party and direct remittances from the beneficiary. What we cannot verify is if the beneficiary has utilized... more »

Scheduling two Shifts of White Collar Workers per Day Instead of One to Cut Overhead Costs and Carbon Footprint by 50%

This idea would also help us avoid future oil spills by becoming less dependent on foreign oil .At the end of the Industrial Revolution our government entered the White Collar Era. We have grown up during the Information Age which morphed into the Digital Age that we are in right now. We seemed to have forgotten the basic concept that made the Industrial Revolution one of the most important events in human history. "Interchangeable... more »

CWS for SSA Employers

My idea would be to offer every worker 9 hour a day and be off on Fridays. Employees would be pay the same but it gives also employees time off to be fresh the next week with having a three day weekend. No one is off pay, we all get pay the same but the agency saves money on other expenses, energy, for example. we all also save money on tavel expenses like on car and gasoline. Many employers have CWS work schedules and... more »

PLEASE STOP PRINTING & DISTRIBUTING PAPER FORMS

The continual printing and distribution of standard paper forms is a huge waste that needs to be eliminated sooner. Much of this waste had already piled up even before going paperless. We need to stop the wasteful shipments!
On the rare occasion that we or the public needs a paper form, we simply click and print it. (Not to mention the fact that even if all shipments had ceased a year or two ago, we'd still have plenty... more »

Create Disability Cessation Appeal Pending Listings

I suggest that SSA create electronic listings available to employees and management to monitor disability medical cessation cases that are pending -- such data is not currently available. If this suggestion were implemented, SSA could avoid the unnecessary accumulation of potentially incorrect "continuing" payments being made to individuals appealing their initial benefit cessation decision. The savings of incorrect... more »

Eliminate paper waste

I am a service representative with SSA. When people have appointments to file for disability, or for their child's disability there are packets that I send out for them to fill out to prepare for this appointment. Our field office receives hundreds of prefilled envelopes to go out to these claimants. However, I also am also required to go to our e-mailer program and print out a packet for each claimant. This prints out... more »
