Utilize electonic method of recording employee time and attnedance

Eliminate sign in sheets, and use an electronic time tracking system. TSA employees currently sign in at the start of their shift, and sign out when they report off. This is time consuming, and costs the agency money through the use of paper, ink to print the sign in sheets, etc. If an electronic system were implented whereby employees could either enter a pre determined employee number, or swipe their airport ID medium... more »

Tests are a Nusiance!

Dispense with all these recertification tests every year. Have the recert tests every other year or every three years. They become a distraction. We are all so worried about passing tests rather than our job at hand. It would save millions! Do you realize how many tests we have to recertify in year after year after year?
We have to recertify in the 3-bag test, Osarp test, the IMA test, the PSE tests - and if we get any... more »

Convert all part-time employees at TSA to full-time

I suggest that you convert all part-time TSO employees at TSA to full-time, this will improve morale, cut down on attrition and save a lot of money and help to build a world class organization. Part-time employees can wait as long as 3 years to get converted to full-time, as a result employees leave as soon as they can find full time employment since they cannot make it on 20-25 hours a week. We are also not attracting... more »

Stop throwing tax payer dollars away on time and a half workers!

I still can not comprehend why the United States Department of Homeland Security does not approve regular overtime hours for Part Time TSA Officers like they use to in the amount up to 39 hours a week. Instead they only offer full timers overtime hours thus costing the agency time and a half all the while part time officers doing the same task and duty would cost the agency straight pay up to 39 hours a week. Part timers... more »

President Obama must Unionize the TSA like he promised NOW!

Let the TSA go union. President Obama stated he would let the TSA unionize like the rest of the divisions of the United States Government workers, but yet 2 years after in office, Obama has yet to allow it and it is a known fact that Republicans do not want it. If Obama does not act immediately there will not be enough time to get it enacted. If it does not go through, officers will continue to quit thus costing TSA more... more »

Airports

allow TSA employees to recycle over-sized liquid items surrendered at our nations airport checkpoints. I see hundreds of thousands of dollars gone right in the trash every year around the nation.

By doing this, we can save, conserve, and earn all in one. plus, we would be going green

Paperless

My cost saving solution is as follows: At TSA we receive a paper statements for TSP statements, retirement statements, and pay stubs( the later if you do not opt out.) I think all statements for retirement, tsp, and pay automatically be defaulted to electronic copy being e-mailed to the employees federal email address. Saving the paper, the ink and the postage for hundreds of thousands of individuals. This cost saving... more »

Reducing Checkpoint Clearance Time

Charge a fine to passengers who 1) send prohibited items (PI's) through the x-ray machine (XM), and 2) those do not send laptops alone through the XM. TSO's waste countless hours every day in all our airports removing PI's, having inexcusable bagchecks and resending laptops back through the XM. We have needlessly angry, disgruntled passengers and airport workers ALL THE TIME whenever there is high passthrough volume.... more »

Use P/T workers before O/T for Fulltime

I suggest that TSA Headquarters allow FSD's to first utilize the Part-Time workforce, when needed, before allowing Overtime paid hours for the Full-Time workers. It now seems that FSD's would rather use the overtime portion of their budget, even when they could save the 50% premium by using the TSO's in the Part-Time workforce that desire extra regular time hours.Thank you for your attention.
