Hard drive Copying Software and Machine

Consider using a hard drive copying software or a machine to coping bad hard drives. I have seen many hard drives fail on computers which waste my time and ITS staff time. If we had software to copy the bad hard drive and reimages it to another hard drive. Instead of when a hard drive goes bad the ITS specialist installs a new hard drive and spends days installing new software. The hard drive coping would save many hours/... more »

Use USPS NOT FedEx for Government Savings and Security

At USDA/NASS we use FedEx all the time for packages and envelopes, especially for 'priority' deliveries. It’s no secret that the USPS is suffering. Instead of 'outsourcing' shipping AND bailing out the USPS why not keep all mail originating from federal offices in the federal system and use the USPS? The USPS offers the exact same services as FedEX and since it is in the federal system, in theory, our federally protected... more »

Discontinue LincPass And Support Comprehensive Identity Solutions

Discontinue security programs which provide no actual security, such as LincPass. Within the USDA alone, this multi-million dollar project consumes large amounts of funds, yet has never been made use of. Additionally, the TSA reports that DHS has stated it is no longer considered proof of identity. Why waste money on the required background checks security clearance reviews, and electronic finger printing if it is considered... more »

Utilize other Government Agencies

Why is it that as a Government agency we have a contract with FedEx to ship our lab work overnight to a Government lab when we have the U.S. Postal service that could provide the same service. If the Government as a whole would utilize the agencies that we have at hand it could save millions overall. If we paid the USPS the money paid to FedEx instead, the money would all stay internal which in the long run would lower... more »

Improve Efficiency in Foreign Service Operations

I suggest that the foreign service components of non-State foreign affairs agencies (FAS, FCS) be merged into the State Department. This will provide the government savings of administrative costs by eliminating duplication by those agencies of their own administrative services; this will provide savings in personnel costs by strengthening the operation of the promotion panels and allow for the elimination of non-performing... more »

Grasp the Age of Technology

I am currently working with USDA Natural Resource Conservation Service as a WAE. I have been assisting with paperwork for the Service Center and Participant copies of the Comprehensive Nutrient Management Plans, and Prescribed Grazing Plans. As a conservation service I was wondering why there was so much paper being used. I understand that the participant needs this information, but the price of folders, paper, ink... more »
