energy

I suggest you... I work in the Cincinnati Service Center and suggest that instead of having a swing shift Monday thru Friday, that they should let them work the same days as data and receipt and control--Sunday thru Thursday. This way on Friday evenings they can shut down most of the building except for the few guards that they need. They will save on electric, heat and air conditioning, water.I worked on swing and... more »

Save Paper Use Electronic Workpapers

Currently when I close out an issue to a Revenue Agent. I am required to print out all workpapers. Workpapers are uploaded to our IMS system and we burn a CD with all our workpapers. Printing them is wasteful and not enivormentally sound. When this idea has been pitched to IRS Management, the answer is printing is required by the manual. I don't believe that is true, all workpapers are to be included in the file,... more »

IRS.gov Taxpayer eAccount

I suggest that all Taxpayers should have an IRS.gov eAccount. Taxpayers will be able to see a history of letters sent to them by the IRS, and refund information. Also the Taxpayers will be able to change their postal address and submit payments with their credit cards or bank accounts. This is a Facebook/Twitter/eMail generation. The IRS will saved milions of dolars in postage by giving acces to current and previous letters... more »

Save IT Training Dollars

I suggest you...Save IT Training dollars by implementing training labs. These labs would allow IT Specialists to practice and enhance their skills after completing training courses. The employees would get more out of the training and would reduce the costs of taking a course multiple times. Currently, employees are trained on particular software or a language either in-house or at an outside training facility. Due... more »

It will save time for the agency and help with compliance and allow for the taxpayer... more »

Tax Return Automation

I believe the manner in which we (the IRS) receive, track and process manual (paper) tax returns is antiquated. With these returns passing through so many hands, there is a huge margin for human error; however, if the tax returns were bar-coded upon receipt and these bar codes were scanned throughout each step of the process (especially now that returns are sent throughout the nation regardless of where they are filed),... more »

Eliminate Filing for Low Income

The government already collects earnings data for all low-income individuals. This data should be submitted and inputted via an electronic system. Once this is done, data regarding children and marital status can also been confirmed electronically. There is no reason why the IRS cannot complete these simple returns, including incomes from Social Security, pensions, dividends, savings accounts, and especially W2s, and... more »

Converting Paper Tax Returns to Electronic Format

For individuals that use tax software to prepare their income tax return, but insist on printing it and filing a paper tax return, we should work with tax software companies on a way to print bar codes (either on one page or, preferably, at the bottom of each page) of the tax return that can be scanned at the IRS office and easily converted to an electronic format.

This will help eliminate transcription errors at the... more »
