Digital Tech Data

My experience of approximately 23 years with the US NAVY and US Air force, Military/Civilian, Mechanic and Information Technology Specialist. I have seen tech data come in many forms and require many platforms to make it available to the end users. What a lot of people don’t see with some of the more elaborate programs written are issues the end users have getting their tech data to work. Many require difficult third... more »

Use Federal Employees/Military Members to augment the Air Marshall force

Since 9/11 the US Government has been expanding the number of Air Marshalls on airline flights. I believe that there are a large number of Federal Employees/Military members that fly as part of meeting there agency/organization mission. A training program to bring the needed skills to these personnel could expand the pool of available Air Marshalls dramatically. Obviously there would need to be a rigorous testing/approval... more »

Commanders'/Directors' Coins

I suggest Commanders' coins and Directors' coins only be permitted at the General Officer and SES level, and only presented for extreme merit. Currently, they are ordered in large lots at Government (taxpayer) expense by officers, NCOs and civilians of all levels, and presented like candy to everyone for anything.

Community service for Unemployment benefits

Unemployment benefits are costing taxpayers millions, and in cities, there is much work that needs to be done. The suggestion is for participants who recieve unemployment benefits; after a reasonble 6 weeks of benefits, in order to continue thier unemployment benefits, the recipient will provide 20-30 hours per week in community service to non-profits, city and state programs. This idea, will allow for the unemployed... more »

Prevent Waste of Prescription Drugs

I suggest that hospital reduce waste of prescription medications by dispensing smaller amounts on an as needed basis only, by providing "left-over" drugs to the patient at cost, by buying meds that can be provided in single doses and by having hospital pharmacists determine whether the patient can just take medication from home instead of getting extras from the hospital. Dispensarys should be located on each floor.... more »

Prepaid Office Supplies will eliminate waste and cut spending

At the beginning of every fiscal year, provide each employee with a reasonable, predetermined amount on an office supply gift or prepaid card to purchase office supplies for the year for themselves at his or her own discretion. Gift or prepaid cards can be purchased at a discounted face value based upon volume. Some exceptions such as bulk paper purchases would exist but this would eliminate all office supply budgets,... more »

Self-Service Screening - Technology - Security - Cost Savings

My idea is to implement self-service screening stalls (Plexiglas walled). These facilities would have credential readers (Credential Authentication and Verification devices) and credit/debit card readers. If the credentials and credit card were valid, the stall door would be unlocked for entry. The traveler would have 1 minute to divest, load bins and successfully walk through the metal detector (2 tries) without any... more »

Mandatory CWS and/or Telework based on COOP Plan

I recommend that all Federal Agencies make it mandatory for Non-Essential Personnel, based on their COOP Plan, to either have a Compressed Work Schedule (CWS) of 9 hour or 10 hour days and/or Telework one or two days a week. I believe that Non-Essential Personnel can still get their work done and work a CWS or Telework and it would not affect employee output based on an Agency’s COOP Plan definition of “Non-Essential... more »

Efficiency and Cost Savings via Document Upload Versus Mail

Allow the general public to upload supporting documentation for disaster registrations via the Internet versus mailing.

Applicants may upload images of receipts, lease and income verification via scanning, cell phone or digital camera.

This will be more efficient in that the processing time for mail handling as well as scanning will be eliminated for those who participate.

Cost savings will be realized in the reduced... more »

A simnple way to save money on your electric bill

My suggestion is to have the president put out an order to all agencies to change out all of the exit signs in every governemnt building to LED lighted exit signs.

Direct incandescent replacement saves up to 80% energy savings and is ideal for use with alternate or renewable energy, reducing light pollution.

. Exit signs operate 24 hours per day, and consume large amounts of energy to operate. We have replaced... more »

Renegotiate Embassy Cell Phone Contracts

IDEA: Update how many embassies and consulates handle cell phone accounts and save thousands at each post. Every mission should be required to audit their cell phone service agreements with their local service providers and seek to make at least this change: if available, they should renegotiate for the entire mission a ‘corporate account’, the greatest benefit being that calls between phones registered to that account... more »

Interagency Cooperative Funding Mechanism

Concept:
When agencies identify a clear cost saving opportunity, administrative processes should facilitate that effort.

Proposal:
Develop an administrative mechanism which would include necessary authorities and processes to allow multiple federal agencies to easily contribute funds to a joint project for the purpose of reducing costs and eliminating duplication. This mechanism should allow for joint or cooperative... more »
